In past years I never had any trouble finding the fat, click Sharpie pens or other pens to use for autographs...This year I'm having a heck of a time finding any fat pens.

Any clues what store to look at? I hate to wait until we are there and pay a ton for a pen.

Have you tried a Joann's/Michael's/Hobby Lobby type of place? I know in the scrapbooking sections and in the finer arts sections they tend to have a large selection of sharpies and specialty markers and pens.

And in the Emporium at MK they have tons of the fat ball point clicky character pens for autographs, but I don't think they have sharpies. Also, 99% of the time, the character attendants and/or photopass person will have sharpies on them for autographs.

We have good luck finding fat Sharpie pens at the office supply places like Staples or Office Depot. I also see them (although in big multi packs) at warehouse membership places like BJs, Costco, etc.

I found mine at Target. I got the click ones instead of the removeable cap, and I found these to be easier to keep track of. I got a big pack that had multiple colors.

I also struggled to get a retractable Sharpie this year and ended up ordering a set of two from amazon. I hope they aren't discontinuing them. I've always managed to pick them up in a local store in the past.

Just curious what type of sharpie is best for the non-face characters?

The "thin" blue sharpie pictured below? Or the "fat" black sharpie also pictured below? I only have the thin sharpies at home and don't want to have to go out and buy the thicker ones.

We use the thin Sharpie that is retractable (without a cap). Easy for the characters to hold, and easy for us because of no cap to keep track of.

I actually prefer Crayolas because they don't bleed through the page. They also have thick & thin ones.

I'm trying to decide which kind to get also. I went to Sharpie's website and they don't have fat AND retractable, it's one or the other. People say it's easier for non-face characters to hold the fat ones. Sometimes the smallest decisions drive me crazy!!

We bought the fat pen they sell in WDW. Though, at Tusker House Donald refused to use it because it had Mickey on it and he used the thin pen we had instead ;)

Same here...Not sure what the deal is this year with not being able to find them. I've looked at my local Walmart and Target with no luck.

Guess I'll make a run to Staples or Hobby Lobby. Thanks for the suggestions!!

It's also a bit longer than the standard sharpie, which helps with characters' larger 'gloved' hands.

They're not discontinuing them.

The only places I have ever found them were office supply stores (staples, office depot, etc.)
