I am an overweight person and never been to Disney World I am 6'3 and 400 lbs. I'm very worried about riding rides I have seen other forums were people say don't worry about it, but I don't know I want some personal stories. If I can't get some stories of people close to my weight that would be great. Thanks everyone.

I went with my family and my dad is 6 foot something and pretty close to 400 and he fit in everything. We didn't have any problems at all and he enjoyed himself.

WDW is very plus-size friendly. If you are worried about not fitting on anything, you can read about people's personal experiences here, along with photos of what the seats look like, descriptions, etc.

I think you'll be fine though. Disney is one of those places that wants everyone to feel comfortable and tries to make it fun for people of all sizes. I'm plus size and had no problem on any rides. I worried until I looked at that site and realized I'd be fine. I didn't miss out on a single ride that I wanted to go on.

Let me know if you have any specific rides that you're concerned with and I can give you a quick rundown if it's something I've been on. :)

I'm 6'1" 390 lbs.

I have been able to ride everything.

Read WDW at Large on allears.net. Great article

Go to the Walt Disney World tab, then select Theme Parks .
Left hand side under Attraction Info is the WDW at Large link.

There's a whole long thread under WDW Tips here. Lots of stories and pictures and everything! HTH

What about Fantasyland rides like Dumbo, etc? Have you tried those?

The only ride I ever have trouble with is Kali River Rapids since you share a belt with someone else.

We just got back yesterday from our first trip to WDW. My husband and I are both large people. He's 6'1 and about 400 pounds. We rode lots and lots of Fantasy land attractions and had no problems. He rode Dumbo with our son, and it was fine. I rode on a horse on the Carousel, and it was fine (I can't tell you how long it has been since I've done that!). On some of rides like Haunted Mansion, Pooh, Peter Pan, we decided to get two ride vehicles and have our son choose someone to ride with. We probably could have done three people in some of them, but we would have been squished. We had literally no problems with any rides because of our size.

The walking, however, was pretty tough on us, so if you haven't started building up your endurance by walking each day before your trip, I would highly reccomend it. We did do this for about a month before our trip....but we really should have done more. I honestly think it was more walking than I've ever done before in my life. When you combine that with the heat, we didn't really get anywhere very fast. :)

I don't know if all rafts are the same now or not, but when I rode this in February and again last week, each seat had it's own seat belt, we did not share.

no, what they mean is that the two seats are together and if you have a wide bottom (as I do) sometimes you need a lil extra butt space. I just make DH sit across from me.

what becky said...I am 300pounds (egads!!) and 5'6"...never had an issue with any ride altho I don't do Dumbo or the carousel horses...but I might NEXT time! Thanks, Becky!!

:welcome: to the DISboards FirstTimer.

Around here there are no fat people - we call 'em POOH sized (and there are plenty of those) ;)

Disney is very accommodating for people of ALL sizes. You won't have trouble fitting into any Disney ride vehicles.

My husband is 6'5 and 400lbs. He rode all the rides with DD 3yo and can ride all the adult rides she's to short for. ( tot, rnr, soarin) :)

I thought they were referring to the fact that the rafts used to have 1 belt that went across both seats, which was uncomfortable for my DF and I last September. In February, and again last week, we were in rafts that did not have that seat belt set up - i thought thats what that poster was referring to. Either way, those seats are tight! If it's not crowded, DF and I often don't share a 2 seater if we can help it, since it's a squeeze for us.

. . . If I can't get some stories of people close to my weight that would be great . . .

I am 6'4" and ex-football, so I can empathize - my findings:
1) Waist/Girth Problems
. . . seat restraint on Expedition Everest can very tight
2) Tall/Legs/Knees Problems
. . . knee-knocker on Big Thunder Mtn, and hard to avoid
. . . knee-knocker on Haunted Mansion, and hard to avoid
. . . knee-knocker on Splash Mtn, but can turn sideways easily
. . . leg-room on The Land boat ride, except front row
. . . leg-room on Ellen's Energy seating, but can turn sideways
. . . leg-room on RnRC, but first row works OK
. . . leg-room on Space Mtn is OK, get in legs first and slide down
. . . head-room on Haunted Mansion, unable to avoid hitting head !

I'm 6'4" 350,and could ride everything-Asto Orbiter,Space Mountain, and T Speedway were tight, with AO being the worst(plus I'm afraid of heights:scared1:-scared me to death!).Dinosaur killed my knee's,but gotta ride it!Check out the tips OP's have mentioned, and you'll find ways to fit.My height has been more of an issue than my weight/girth.As far as US/IOA,I had a good enough time, but could'nt fit on several headliners, and WONT be going back-they don't seem to care much about us "bigguns" being able to ride everything like WDW does!

just curious...those of you who dont read the pooh sized thread and are on here...do you ever fly SW??? If so have you had any problems???

I haven't flown SW, but mostly due to the fact that I live in Seattle and when I fly it's typically to Boston (which I do JetBlue) or Orlando (which I fly Alaska). I go with those airlines as they both fly direct vs. having stops. I have flown many other airlines in the past, and will say out of all the airlines, JetBlue is the best for plus-sized people. The seats are a little bigger (seriously, every inch counts) and they're always really friendly. Alaska is a bit more cramped, but they're fine as well.

Not sure I'd fly SW at my highest weight (I've lost 54 pounds and still going!), in fear of having to deal with an embarrassing situation. I always think of Kevin Smith and that whole fiasco, so SW seems like it can be risky. Maybe someone else has a better story though. :)

I forgot about Tomorrowland Speedway. I've ridden it twice by myself before. I can not sit behind the wheel. I must sit in the passenger seat and stear with my left hand and work the pedal with my left foot.
