Fastpasses? Changing people

Rather than not updating the app (or if you already have) you can just use your browser on your phone to login to MDE when in the park as it's still available there.

I think 3 FP+ is more than enough IF Disney would run rides at full capacity. Just do as a lot of people do. Wait in line.

I’m fairly certain Disney made this change not to inconvenience the average guest but to stop this strategy of folks “banking” additional FPs over and above their normal 3, then transferring them later to themselves or others after they have used their regular FPs. They are trying to stop this practice as it gives an advantage to some over the normal guest who is limited to advance planning for just 3 FPs. Once the ability to “bank” additional FPs is no longer possible there will be additional FP availability for everyone else. (Yeah!)

For most guests the ability to no longer change party for a FP will be minor. They will simply just exchange magic bands with those in their party who don’t want to ride.

Disney couldn't care less if one person gets an advantage over another. They care about one thing, and one thing only, money. You can bet your life that if they are cracking down on abuse of the fast pass system, it is to free up overhead so that they can monetize the system. They are getting favorable results from the test they are running at club level rooms right now, and are working to free up capacity so that they can sell more FP+

Agree regarding abuse - -- but Disney has the ability to see if you have transferred a FP+ from a guest who hasn't entered the park vs one who has and can then lock out your DME as they do for other violations of this nature.

There are honest reasons to use the change party option vs simply switching MB's so like the posters up-thread I hope they keep this.

Disney may have the ability to see this, but NOT in real time. They can only go back and look at things overnight after it has already happened. That is why they started locking MDE accounts overnight when people used FP that were attached to profiles which hadn't entered the park. If they had the ability to see what was happening in real time, they simply would not let those FP work. I suspect that it takes too much processing power to make those checks, and so they query their database overnight, when customers aren't putting a lot of demand on the system, and identify those who have broken the rule, and the locks happen over night. The same kind of thing would apply here. They either remove the ability completely, or punish you after it has been done, but I don't believe that they have the processing power necessary to check each FP when a change party is being requested to see if tickets were scanned into a park.

I agree. Don't forget this is Disney IT we're talking about. A group not know for their technical prowess.

I don't believe it has so much to do with their technical prowess, as is does with the massive size of the database that handles ticketing and fast passes, and the amount of server processor time it takes to query the system every time someone attempts to change party on a fast pass.

She can't. See the bold above.
.

I mentioned just swapping bands as a simple solution because it's a simple solution that is permitted, and I also mentioned it because it's something that many people asking questions here don't realize that you can do.

The sister being in another part of the park doesn't make this solution impossible.

Now that using Change Party to circumvent Disney rules has been explained and Swapping MBs, as an appropriate way to Change Party, has been mentioned multiple times, closing.
