Just booked our fast passes for our trip in August! I'm wondering if it's really necessary? I just feel like between dining reservations and fastpasses we are so schedule and don't have time to just enjoy the parks. Any thoughts on this?

I don't see why you wouldn't want a fast pass for your favorite rides. When we went to Disney a year ago, we weren't able to ride Toy Story Mania or Soarin' because of the wait times, and an inability to get a fast pass (by the time we got to the kiosk, they were out). This trip, we have scheduled fast passes for these rides, as well as Anna and Elsa (no way will I wait in line for two hours for this, so with no fast pass, this would have been a miss), and for the Dwarf Train.

Tour how you like, but I'm looking forward to my trip even more knowing that my favorites are guaranteed.

I don't understand how scheduling fast passes will take away your enjoyment of the parks. Schedule them, and don't use them if it doesn't work with your day.

My thought is that I'd rather have them and not use them than not book them and wish I had them. I'm still using other strategies (rope drop, eating at off times, etc.) to minimize our line time.

It's weird to be so scheduled but I'm not going to let it work against me. If we're having fun doing something else I'm not going to stop it just for a FP. However, I tried to plan carefully and I think the hour return window gives flexibility.

Depends on you..do you go at rope drop? I know I hate the planning typically we never know what park we are going to until day of. But not making FPs can mean you are going stand by in headliners. We were there on Mother's Day decided we weren't going to do a MK day instead we went to HS. We couldn't get a FP for Toy Story. By park opening they were all booked. We even went to a kiosk hoping it had secret ones..nope...we skipped the ride because the line was 90 mins. So it all depends if you want to go by standby.

We just got back and had dining reservations and FP+s scheduled for almost every day. I didn't find that it hampered our ability to enjoy the parks. We were able to do everything that we wanted and a lot more. We had 7 park days. FP+ is really useful at the MK. Not as much at HS or AK. Rope drop worked well at both of those. We still had them but it really wasn't as necessary. We had to schedule 2 EPCOT days in order to be able to ride Soarin' and Test Track. There was no way to get a fourth FP+ for either of those and the other attraction really don't need FP+. My real complaints about FP+ are tiering and not being able to schedule in more than one park (we always park hop). I actually find dining reservations to be more constricting with travel times to some of the restaurants. Make your ressies and if you don't use them no biggie. Have fun!

Thanks y'all for your thoughts! We are going at rope drop so we should be there very early. I guess I just didn't want to book them if we might not use all of them... If we miss one or two there aren't any issues?

There is no penalty for a missed window you just don't get to use the slot.

Unlike legacy days when a FP was good for the rest of the day FP + is only good for the window.

There is no reason not to schedule your must-dos each day.

At like Epcot I typically schedule soarin, maelstrom and character connection since you have to do 3. And I just consider everything but soarin to be disposable
