So there was an issue when they made our hotel reservations and they ended up giving us an extra fastpass each day for a party of 4. Well now the other 2 cannot come and the party is now going to be 2. If I have their magic bands can I still use their multiple experiences and get two extra fastpasses for the 2 of us?

Just a side note, these two do not have theme park tickets (we do) but they have the multiple experiences.

If they are not there, how will their magic bands be activated? Are you going to keep them on your reservations and pay extra for them (assuming they adults and you are paying the extra $ for more than 2 adults in the room)

Guest Recovery (appeasement) FPs can be used when in the park with or without a linked ticket being used for park entry. These "Anytime" FPs are linked in MDE and can be used at designated attractions.

Discussing using extra tickets to prebook FPs, off-topic for this thread, is not allowed due to TOS wording.

So, would the appeasement FPs for the 2 people not going still be there if the people aren't going? Wouldn't they be linked to the reservation, since they were given because of a reservation issue? Isn't part of MDE linked with a reservation/room access on a magic band? (And please delete if I've asked a forbidden question - I'm confused!)

The people on the room reservation received the FPs. Any linked MB will provide the access.

Even if the 2 people are removed from the reservation, the FPs remain linked to the specific Profiles. Guest Recovery FPs linked to a Profile in MDE are not dependent upon a room reservation or tickets. The CMs assign the FPs to each Profile line.

What about this...we had a CM give us FP for every member of our party including the baby who didn't have a ticket? We didn't bother to try to figure out if we could use his FP. We didn't need one for him for rides, so why bother. But could we? Does the fact that his was only 1 yrs old matter?

But could we?
Yes; his FP was valid and anyone could have used his MB to ride using the FP.

When we were at Contemporary, we received 3 Anytime FPs linked to each of us. Even though I didn't have a ticket linked to me (I entered using a Guest Pass), my linked MB enabled me to access the FPs at the FP touchpoint.

I guess we could have use his FP for something like dumbo, let the adult use the MB and take baby with them. Nobody was going to use just a single rider like space mountain. We had FP left over. Felt soooo wasteful. The week we were there there were several days of mid-90's, just too hot for us.

For the best understanding of the concept of using someone else's MB in the parks, check out the SDFP (same day fast pass) superthread. I don't know how to add the link, but a search for SDFP will bring it up ☺️

Magic Bands are not activated for Park access - they are access nodes into a cloud-storage account. Yes, I mean they are activated at the time of purchase to become an access node into a cloud-storage account but they aren't *re-activated* in any way when you wear them to the Parks. They just are a physical media device hooked to your biometrics, to provide access to this account with all the entitlements loaded onto it. Disney could very well do this with JUST our biometrics and the fingerprint scanners, but it's a lot easier to shrug off the Big Brother feeling when you have a fun accessory to play with and decorate! ;)

I advise reading the SDFP+ thread about 30 times until you think you understand it without asking questions about it. and then have fun, YMMV. I may use it next time, if Disney hasn't cracked down on it more than they already have... but I also might just as readily NOT want to micro-manage that much and not use the option. Right now, it's there, Disney is acquiring data from it and not stopping it. So *shrug*.
