Fastpass + Time Selection Question

Hello Fellow Disers,

I am a FL RES and a AP holder. We just made our 1st resort ressie since the new FP system and just went in to make our selections for our upcoming trip. We have been to the parks and used it there since we didn't have magicbands yet and I have read many of the FP + threads here but somehow I must have missed this important detail.

So my question is, can I not select my own times for FP +? Do I have take one of Disney's selections? I was totally under the impression that I would just choose the 3 attractions that I wanted and then it would give me a list of times that this attraction had FP+ available for that day and then I would choose the time that our family preferred. Is this not how it works? Am I missing something in the MDE that would give me the option of selecting my own times?

Take what they give you first, and then go in and edit each time individually.
