Fastpass+ Tiering System!

Yep, it's been this way a few months now and the math doesn't support it changing, unfortunately.

It was changed around November time - we were Ok in December as we had already booked pre-tiers.

I don't see them changing it unfortunately...

I honestly don't know how I missed this tiering lark. TBH it shouldn't be an issue for us as we will be going to parks more than once,so we won't miss anything. This categorising of rides reminds me of the old Blackpool Pleasure Beach system where you had your A,B,C & D rides, A being the really expensive one you'd only do once!

Disney used to have the same category system. With A, B, C, D and E tickets. E tickets were the most expensive, and still today, a headliner is referred as a E-Ticket.
So, in a sense, this tiering is a resurection of the old "ticket system" adapted to Fastpass. Thankfully all the rides and attractions remain "free" to use with the purchase of the admission ticket.

here's a small article about that old system http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2013/05/vintage-walt-disney-world-an-a-attraction-or-an-e/

Yeah probably the most expensive "free" ever

look at Universal, they charge you for admission, and then they charge you again if you want express (fastpass).

Yes but there express is true express! Plus the tickets per day are a lot cheaper, and if you stay at their deluxe hotels then you at least get a true perk worth the money.

At Disney as much as I love them, you pay over the odds for the parks, way over for the hotel and get hardly anything for the perk of booking a deluxe except some better amenities,

I really think that if they are not going to allow hopping with the FP+ then they should not have tiered them,

I also think there is going to be no point to people in the US buying hoppers, they are a huge add on price wise, and yet you can't get any FP access to the park hopped to, so disney are going to see a real decline in add ons which will hopefully get them to increase the amount of FP+ given an allow you to book FP+ for another park once you have used all 3 in the 1st park.

I'm not sure they will stop park hopping. If you open your first park of the day at rope drop there is no need to used FP plus really if you follow a decent touring plan. So theoretically you could save your FP Plus for your evening park and be guaranteed three rides with no waits.

I agree. I think hopping will eventually be added as an option with the FP's but the tiering system in some parks and not others is going to complicate this. If they tier MK when they open the Mine Train at the beginning of May .....

But as far as hopping goes, you really only used to get one park for FP's unless you got to your second park early enough anyway. If anything we are hopping more with our current plans because of this and also spending a lot more time away from the parks than before. I don't think they are discouraging hopping; it's just perceived to make it difficult if you use the former approach in doing so as it's effectively reversed now where you FP your second park not your first when you hop.

absolutely.
That's what we did back in october/november. For example we managed to get 3 attractions + 1 meal at Garden Grill and illuminations in less than 3.5 hours all included.
If you time your FP+ right, 3 consecutive hours, use the first FP+ at the end of your return window, the second at the beginning of its window, then the meal, then the third FP+ at the end of its return window, just in time to find a spot for the fireworks. It's possible to enjoy a second park in the evening on top of RD at a first park, and a full afternoon break at the resort.
Sometimes the system will tell you that you have FP+ conflicting with an ADR, but as far as I'm concerned, the system never prevented me from having overlapping ADR and FP+, just a nag message.

For our family, hopping has become even easier.
Guaranteed to ride headliners in the morning at RD, and guaranteed to ride at least one headliner (TSMM, TT or Soarin') with no wait in the evening when there would have been no way to get a FP with the old system and avoid a 1.5hr+ line.

But I do realise that we, the European guests, are hit less hard by the tiering and FP+ than US guests. Many of us here are on 14 or 21 days tickets including hopper. So more time in the parks and the ability to take it slow when many US guests only have one day to tour each park.

Did I mention that the new FP+ system was perfect for our family ? :hippie:
