Fastpass strategy?

What's your FP strategy for each of the parks, during their morning EMH? What attractions rides do you get a FP for and then what do you go to first while waiting?

Epcot: Fastpass for Soarin'. Then, stand in the stand-by line for Soarin'. That way, we can ride 2 times in a row. Then head over to the other side of FW and get Fastpass for Test Track, and ride Mission Space while waiting.

MK: Fastpass for Space Mountain. Do Buzz while waiting. After doing Space, head over to Big Thunder/Splash. Get Fastpass for either one, and do the other while waiting. Then over to Jungle Cruise; get Fastpass and ride POTC while waiting.

MGM: Head to RnR/TOT. Get Fastpass for one of those, and ride the other while waiting.

AK: Fastpass for Safari; and ride Kali River Rapids while waiting. Then go to Dino Land and get Fastpass for Dinosaur, go back and ride Primeval Whirl while waiting.

At MGM we went to RNR first & got a child swap FP and DH went thru the regular line. I held onto the FP to use later in the day. We then went to Voyage of the Little Mermaid & got a FP, went to Playhouse Disney then saw Mermaid. Be sure to pick up a FP for the Lights Motor Action show ASAP. The first show isn't until 1 pm but that FP doesn't affect you getting any other FPs. I picked up FPs for the IJ show right after getting the LMA FPs.

What is the actual rule for FP? Can you hold one for a show and a ride at the same time?

Also, I thought I heard here that you can get one for POTC and get another for something else and that there is something about the FP machine at POTC that allows you to hold a FP for it and another ride. Does anyone know?

If you're just talking about the morning EMH, at the Magic Kingdom at least, I'm not sure there's a whole lot of "strategizing" you can do for FP.

Last Summer, at the beginning of the 8:00am EMH hour, the FASTPASS return windows on most or all of the attractions wasn't until 10:05am. (The first return windows are also 10:05am when the park opens at 9:00am for non-EMH.) So, EMH *maybe* gives you one extra FP over what you could get if you didn't show up until the regular opening time, since you can't get another FP until 10:10am anyway.

Given the extra crowds the EMH brings in, during the Summer I'm not convinced *any* EMH (morning or evening) is worth it...

Prior to last Summer, you used to be able to get FP's for Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion at the same time you held FP's for other attractions. To the best of my knowledge, this has been discontinued (and HM doesn't even *use* FP now).

The only time that you can get 2 FPs right after each other that I know of is with the Lights Motor Action show at MGM. The back stage tour guide told us that show's FP doesn't count as a regular FP.

Now, we did end up having more than one set of FPs with us for 2 rides or 2 shows at times because you can get a new FP 5 minutes after the start time of the last FP that you got. The time is noted on the bottom of each FP. Also, with the rain last week we ended up watching the Cinderellabration show later than we had planned. Since the FPs don't expire we were fine & just used the ones we had after the show. DH made sure that he picked up new FPs whenever our time window opened up. HTH.
