Fastpass newbie here. We haven't been to disney since the app and pre-scheduling FP has happened. We're able to book FP 30 days out, and I plan to do that on our scheduled days for each park. My question is, what if it's pouring rain and we decide to change days and either not do a planned park, or change to another. Do I cancel my fastpasses for that park and try to re-book the fastpasses that morning and hope for the best? Looking for strategies from seasoned veterans.
Thanks

Yes, you would have to cancel your FPs and start all over. Unfortunately you would probably not be able to get FPs for the headliners at the new park but stranger things have happened. Usually if it is raining we just put on our ponchos and go. The rain doesn't always close outdoor rides it is the lightening that closes them. You can still have fun in the rain and it usually doesn't rain all day.

You may find the FP FAQ helpful, no need to read beyond the first page of posts in it.

Well first and foremost - when are you going?? If it's anytime coming up, it will rain. It's just the season that FL is in right now. The park does not close for rain, some rides will, some will still operate in the rain. It's more of a safety for thunder/lightening issue than anything else. Disney does a great job keeping everything running as long as it's safe to do so. So if it does rain, you just grab your poncho and keep going. Or take a snack break and wait for it to stop. Either way, FP+ will have your back. If you decide to cancel your FP+ that day, you will be at the mercy of what is available at that time. Just note, if you decide to change all this on the fly, the app is very user friendly as are the kiosks inside the park. So for example, if you are having a great day at Magic Kingdom and your next FP is 2:40-3:40pm, it starts pouring down rain at 2:45pm, you can remove the FP+ and select another at a later time BUT and a big BUT it will show you what's available and that will be based on openings and what tier your ride is that you just removed. You can research the whole tiered system for FP by park and see how it all works. The other thing I will say is make sure you are familiar with the FP rules as it pertains to the rides and parks you will be at, the usage, etc. It's not hard but people do get very confused.

We'll be there November 29th to December 8th and we're offsite at Doubletree in Disney Springs - so I understand 30 days out to book FP

Yes that's correct, 30 days in advance for FP when off site AND you have to do it day by day so on 10/29, you can do your 11/29 FP only, then on 10/30 you can do your 11/30 fp selections. You cannot do a batch lump of them like you can if you are staying onsite.

I used to change park days alot - on my last trip I planned on doing that as well. But I quickly found out that if I did that now, I wouldn't get FP+ for the headliner rides so now I don't do it as often.

Now I tend to stick with my planned park for the day - at least through using the FP+ I had planned. I miss the days when not as many people knew about FP. But that ship has sailed so I have to adjust to the new ways.
