Fastpass + seems to be ruining many posters trips to WDW.

So why do you let it? Why do you bother with FP+?

I know my situation is different than many but I don't even bother with FP, I know we are all different but I don't mind the wait, if it's too long I don't bother.

I could never plan my meals and what time I was going to eat and what rides I was going to ride months ahead. I just ride and eat what I want and when. You can get into the hard to get into places to eat with out reservations, it's done all the time.

So don't let the pre planning ruin your trip, go and have fun.

We didn't like FP-. So we didn't use it. End of story.

I don't think it's the pre-planning. I think it's knowing ahead of time we won't get to do everything we want, like we always have in the past. You're OK with that and that's great. Not everybody is.

I don't have to be standing in line to be forced to chat with my family. We talk all the time--every day, no matter where we are. And frankly standing in a line is not our favorite place to talk.

Before the counter-hyperbole starts again, lots of have are tried FP+ and experienced and expressed problems with it who still had a great time on their trips to WDW. A few people have used extreme terms like "ruin" (surprise, we're on the internet) but most of us didn't say it ruined our trip. We did not stomp around the parks screaming at CMs or making our children cry, or sulk off to our resorts and mope in our rooms because we couldn't get as many fast passes as we wanted. When I see replies to problems reported by people dissatisfied with FP+ or MDE I can tell people have jumped to this conclusion (that or presume that the unsatisfied people haven't even tried it yet). Most of us are not the kamikaze FP- users that you picture being unhappy that we can't work the system anymore, most of us don't have that kind of energy and never did.

I think the most common reactions among the dissatisfied beta testers are

1. The system will not bear the load that's coming when it's out of beta testing, and

2. It makes WDW a marginally less enjoyable experience (not "ruined"). In some cases that may be enough to make other vacation alternatives more attractive.

I talk to my family every day. We're not constantly going in a million directions; we're together nearly every evening. But when we're spending well over $400 a day ($700 with hotel and food), I don't particularly want to stand around and talk all day. Arriving early and having that advantage for collecting fastpasses was an important part of our strategy to avoid that.

FP+ is not going to ruin our trip because we're lowering our expectations for the WDW portion of the trip and spending most of our vacation money elsewhere.

I think it is pretty funny how for years the DIS mantra has been "Disney is great, but you have to plan to avoid the lines" but in response to FP+ complaints it is suddenly "Don't worry about the planning, standby isn't that bad, you'll enjoy the wait". There's a decade worth of advice on how to avoid long standby queues, but now they're supposed to be an enjoyable opportunity to talk to our families? I'm sorry, but I talk to my family every night over the dinner table. I'm not spending thousands just to talk to them in a different setting.

I liken it to heading out in the car. Conversation is plenty to fill short drives, just as it has been plenty to fill short wait times (because let's be real - classic FP was still not a walk-on and many non-FP attractions post 20-30min waits). But when it comes to hours-long drives we pack activities to keep the kids busy, so why would I think that conversation would be enough to entertain the kids through hours of standing in lines at WDW? If they were adults, sure, but not young kids.

A REALLY long line to our kids is 30 minutes. If we were standing in lines all day......the only conversation that we would be having with the boys is how long the line is for a 3 to 7 minute experience.

Like others have mentioned we talk all the time with the family (not trying to infer that others don't).

For someone who has not utilized the FP- while touring the parks, it is just difficult for you to understand what a change / impact / inconvenience the elimination of the old system will do to their trips.

God bless those that look forward to FP+ and the conveniences that they forsee for their method of touring.

The impacts to us are major. So much so, that we are limiting the parks that we will be visiting this trip. We will use a plus feature to visit a water park instead.

If I was local that could go whenever I wanted, I would think the same thing.

However, not many visitors to WDW are local, so our strategy is much different.

We have been able to enjoy WDW and ride all the rides we want using FP over the past several years without ever waiting in a long line during busy times. I realize some people will say lines are part of going to WDW, but we've always managed to avoid them. Any decrease in our ability to do that is significant for us. YMMV.

We have a teen and a pre-teen and sometimes their questions are not the type you would want small children over-hearing in a queue, that's why we try to get into short lines.

Look on the bright side, your kids have more time to blow bubbles in line and you can skip the parks and lines and go pool hopping at the resorts. ;-)

1.I'm not paying thousands of dollars to stand in line.
2.I don't just talk with my family on vacations.
3.Even if we were to accept standing in line, there are only so many hours in the day. At some point, you're going to run out of time and miss some rides or attractions that you wanted to see.

I think the mantra of "You've done it once, now move on" it just ridiculous. I'm flying thousands of miles and paying thousands of dollars. If I want to ride Space Mountain twice, I should be able to do so without having to miss 5 other rides. If Disneys' goal was as it says it was, which is to enhance guests experience, they have failed miserably with FP+.
