Hi,

My sister says that she read a newspaper article that stated that Disney is going to do away with Fastpasses. I can't find anything about this online - has anyone else heard this?? Please tell me it ain't so!

I hope not. If they do away with FP, my bet is they will go with something like at Universal where onsite folks will get priority. I hear from friends that they won't go back to Universal because of this.

They put alot of money into FP, so I doubt they will go away, especially since the new FP area for Expedition Everest has just been completed.

What does happen, however is that FP gets shuffled around.... WWTBAM-PI FP went to Lights,Motors,Action Extreme Stunt Show. The FP at Pirates of the Caribbean was removed because it wasn't needed and put at Stitch, Escape!~

This is not true - but they are thinking of one day charging for it or having some sort of a way to reduce lines, possibly like Universal. I personally think that people staying at the on-site resorts should have priority for most things...just a little something extra for choosing a Disney Resort. Not that I'm syaing EMH isn't enough...it's just nice to have little perks here and there.

While I agree that it's nice to have perks for those spending a fortune on a Disney resort, I don't think it's fair to make day guests wait in longer lines just to let resort guests cut in front. I have been to Disney almost every year of my life growing up but never stayed in a resort because my grandparents lived nearby. I would hate to think that children with relatives nearby or even local children would be penalized at the parks just because they aren't staying at a Disney resort.

I think the system is fine the way it is. EMH are an added incentive to stay at the resorts, but do not lower the quality of the experience for the day guest while they are there in any way.

A Universal system would not work at Disney since there are 16 hotels as opposed to the 3 that are Universal resorts. By the way, if you haven't tried it yet, on your next trip to Disney stay for a one night at a Universal hotel and try the FOL, you will LOVE It!!!!

No flames please, but I agree with making FP a perk for the resort guests. I wouldn't call it being "penalized" as you still get to go on the ride, it just may take a little longer. The EMH is a nice perk as well, do FL residents feel penalized on this too? Again, please do not flame me, this is just my opinion and everyone has the right to have their own.

I'm really torn both ways on this issue...karma really makes a good point - I know if I couldn't afford to stay in a resort, I would probably be really upset...then again, I only go in February, so it never really affects me.

Regardless, I heard about them thinking of charging for Fastpasses at some point in the future...something like where you'd make reservations the day you are going and they'll give you a time to come...and there's only so many in one day...again, this is just what I heard from semi-reliable source...doesn't mean it will really happen..and I hope it doesn't

I just can't understand why they feel the need to mess with this... :confused3

I was there at a very busy time (mid-July) and Fastpass worked beautifully for all those who used it.

To me, Fastpass is *already* a perk for a certain segment of the Disney population -- those who care to get to the parks early enough at the busiest times, to secure a Fastpass for the most popular attractions. No, you probably won't get a fastpass for superheadliners and headliners if you enter the park in summer at 3 p.m., but that's the way it goes.

Why must they fix what ain't broke?

A quick search of "Disney FASTPASS" on Google News didn't turn up anything that would verify this. What newspapers does your sis typically read? I'll be happy to follow up.

I agree with not changing the FassPass, it is fine the way it is. We went to Disney during spring break and being able to use FassPass made it so much easier to get everything that we wanted to do. I agree with the poster who said it wouldn't be fair for those who live near Disney or have relatives close by. It has only been the last few years that we have stayed on site, before we always stayed with relatives who live close to Disney.

Part of the theme park experience is waiting in lines for the attractions that you want to visit. They should leave a good thing alone.

Not for nothing, but my one sister is not a Disney fan, and so perhaps she read something about Fastpass and extrapolated, ya know? She was very happy to tell me that my favorite 'making a plan for going to WDW' thing was going away . . . :teeth: .

I was sure that if it was really true, I'd have heard it here first!!

Hi
I have heard the rumor that fastpass was going to change for the resort guess. I heard that if you were staying at a deluxe resort that you would be able to have so many extra fastpasses and be able to pick your time and print them out in your room. And the less you pay for your room the fewer extra passes you would get. That is what I've heard :listen:
