Fastpass question

During our trip last year, I did not do enough research about TSM and clearly did not realize that the fastpasses go pretty quickly for that ride.

This year I vow to be prepared, if I go to DHS earlier than the rest of my group, can I get fastpasses for them even if they have not entered the park and "swiped" their admission card? TIA

Nope.

Tickets that have not been "scanned-in" at the gates will not
activate the FastPass machines.

No, you can't. Everyone has to use their ticket to get into the park before they will work in the FP machines.

No, I think that they have to be swiped in order to be activated for that day. Someone correct me if I am wrong--when we went last year, we all quickly walked to TSM got in line, rode it, came off got FP's and then rode it again--we waited less than 30 minutes both times! But you do need to hit it early!!!

Can't wait until Thanksgiving!!!!

Glad I asked, thanks for the quick responses. My family will have to just get up earlier than originally planned and walk quickly ;)

My family was in line at the gate before the park opened, then worked our way up the street until rope drop. The gift shops are open and noone is usually in them that early. So we walk through the stores as far up the street as we can. Then we join the crowds waiting for rope drop. Once the park is officially opened, we hustled over to TSM and only waited about 15 minutes. Yes, getting a fast pass after coming off the ride is a great idea.
Enjoy your time in WDW.

We arrived to DHS before rope drop. I thought we were to "late", but when I looked back, we were probably in the first 1/3. I told my husband to meet me at TSM, as I was going to get fastpasses first. He walked with the masses with DD9 and DD6. I hustled to get to TSM. As I was just finishing up getting the fastpasses, they were just arriving with the rest of the huge crowd. We proceeded to get into line and on TSM within 20 minutes. My fastpasses were for less than a hour later.

Moral of the story... get to ROPE DROP... early! Divide and conquer. Have one person hustle with the park tickets to get Fast passes, have a mtg place to jump into line together.

We used this method everyday and we had a wonderful trip.... tons of rides and time to reride!

I understand the FP theory but, I don't understand (and can't find out about), how many fast passes can you get at once/over an hour/over the day for ALL in our party? What if I get TSM FPs for us, how long before I enter our 'keys' for another FP somewhere else? Does the return time effect us getting another FP for somewhere else? If not, are we saying, in essence, that you're waiting at least 1 hour to get another FP ticket and then waiting until your next FP ride comes up? :confused3:confused3

TIA! We're leaving today!

1- how many fast passes can you get at once/over an hour

2- over the day

3- for ALL in our party?

4- What if I get TSM FPs for us, how long before I enter our 'keys' for another FP somewhere else?

5- Does the return time effect us getting another FP for somewhere else? If not,

6- are we saying, in essence, that you're waiting at least 1 hour to get another FP ticket and

7- then waiting until your next FP ride comes up?

1- Likely just one.
2- It varies with crowd level and the hours a park is open.
3- Number in your party is irrelevant.
4- At the Return Time on your current FP.
5- Yes. If the Return Time on your current FP is over 2 hours from when you first got that FP, you can get ANOTHER FP at the 2-hour mark.
6- Roughly true, but that can vary, too.
7- It depends on the Return Time of your current FP.

It really is not confusing when you are there, as the FP that you have
will have printed on it exactly when you can get the next FP.

This past week was the first time we had ever used FP.. I know I know,,, I am a convert. shaddup. TSM convinced me.

but one question I had.. when you get a FP with that time frame of getting anothe rone.. is that for the same ride, or could you immediately go from say Soarin to Test Track and get FP for each ride within 5 minutes?

when you get a FP with that time frame of getting anothe rone..

1- is that for the same ride, or

2- could you immediately go from say Soarin to Test Track and get FP for each ride within 5 minutes?

1- It is for ANY new FP for any attraction in the park.

2- Nope.

It works the same - doesn't matter what ride you want the 2nd FP for - the same ride or different - you still have to wait until the window printed on the FP opens.

THAT explains a lot! Thanks!! :thumbsup2

OK I am going to ask another lol. Last time we were there we were able to get just 1 fast pass and dh and I could each ride because of the child swap.
That said it is one pass per person correct?
So if there are 6 of us all 6 scan their card for the ride and off you go until you ride it then you come back and get another? Or are you able to scan it for all rides and then arrive at said time?

1- Yes.
2- Yes.
3- You may get another FP at the Return Time of your current FP whether you actually USE the current FP (ride the attraction) or not.
They do not scan-in the facts regarding if you ever actually USE a FP or not.
They just collect the FP from you (if you use it) and then throw the used tickets away.
4- You can only get another FP for ANY ride AFTER the current one that you have has reached its Return Time (or 2 hours has elapsed, whichever is sooner.)
Again, the time that you can get ANOTHER FP will be printed right on your current FP.

I would suggest having 1 person go to the machine with everyone's cards and scan them all- collecting all the FP and then have an adult carry them all until it is time to use them(or a responsible older child).

A FP will tell you what time you can get the next one- it is normally either 5 minutes after your ride time opens or 2 hours later whichever comes first but it clear says on the bottom of the ticket the time on which you can get your next FP.

You use it for one ride at a time (AK sometimes has a different system - it has been on a trail basis where all the machines are together)- the machine will be near the ride you are using it for.

A FP will tell you what time you can get the next one- it is normally either 5 minutes after your ride time opens or 2 hours later...

I seen a number of people saying that it is 5 minutes after the return time, but I have NEVER observed this 5 minute delay. In all cases I've seen it is AT the return time.

You can even see an example of this on my Fastpass page.

As for what the next Fastpass time will be when you obtain any Fastpass, remember the three rules:

Rule #1: You can get a new Fastpass when it says you can get a new Fastpass on the Fastpass you most recently obtained.

Rule #2: How long it will be varies, but the general rule of thumb is either the return time of the previous Fastpass or two hours after you obtained the previous Fastpass, whichever is sooner.

Rule #3: There are always exceptions, so always refer to Rule #1.
