Fastpass Question: Need to be in the Park to Get FastPass?

Please don't flame me since I am ignorant about this question but can I get FastPasses for my wife and son while they are napping back at the hotel? In other words I'd go over to AK and get an EE fastpass for all three of us, even though they are back at the hotel sleeping. We will be staying on-site with MYW tickets and meal plan.

We used FastPasses only a little bit last Fall on our trip. Either the lines were short at the right times (Splash Mountain, Star Tours, etc.) or we were not going to be hanging around a park long enough to use the pass (Fastpasses for Soarin were taking 5-7 hours in advance). We also avoided some FP rides my son could not go on (ToT, RnRC, SM, TT, etc.).

In order to get FPs you have to use your park pass. Even if you had all the park passes with you (and how would your wife and son get in?) since they hadn't actually been used for park entry, you wouldn't be able to use them for FPs. Sorry.

In order for the FP machine to dispense a FP, you must have a park admission that has been SCANNED IN to the park that day.

Since you would be the only one who scanned in his ticket, the other two park admissions would not allow a FP to be issued.

You could only get a single FP using your ticket.

Nah, you can't. The pass first has to be activated at the entrance which needs the finger scan.
You could all go to the park, and then you could run and get the fast passes while they wait for you at the entrance inside the park and then head back to your nap...

If you are all at the park in the morning, they leave to take their nap and you keep the tickets you can use them. You just then meet them outside the gate when they get back.

Thanks for the information about the FPs. Usually the plan for us is something like hit one park in the morning then back to the room by noon for a nap. Then hit a second (or sometimes a second and third) park after the nap. Because of this it might be tough to get Soarin' (for example) FPs since they can be 5 more more hours out.
