FastPass Question for new DVC owner

So September will be my first time staying as a DVC owner and I had a quick question regarding FastPass. Do I HAVE to have tickets and/or annual passes linked to my account to book these at 60 days or is just the resort stay good enough? I was most likely just going to purchase an AP when I got down to Disney.

Park admission linked to MDE is required to make advance FP+ selections.

You can repurchase your AP and not have it activated until you show up. I bought mine back in November, can book 60 days out, but am not activating it until July.

Ah ok this makes sense then, I was afraid I'd have to activate it to book fast passes. Thanks!

By the way, no idea why my phone turned purchase into repurchase. You can buy new of course. This is true for more than just season pass, too. As long as you have a valid ticket linked to MDE, and your hotel reservation linked there as well, you are good to go. Will not show up until the 60 day mark, though.
