Do I think that FP should be for resort guests only. No, not really.
However, we did enjoy our GAD fast passes during our trip last year. We were lucky enough to participate in last year's Give a Day, Get a Disney Day program. We volunteered our time to a worthy cause and instead of using the free ticket option, we got the GAD fast passes.
The fast passes were wonderful! We were even able to get a set of FP for TSM around noon, the day before Thanksgiving when all the regular FP were exhausted for the day.
I would love to see Disney do a promotion like that again. We loved helping out our community and having the perk of getting those fast passes. I told my DH on our last day that those GAD fast passes were going to spoil us for future trips.
Just my .02

), but the current fp system is probably very appealing to you. I don't claim to know the business aspects of this system, but I'm wondering if more people come more often with the convenience of fp. And I'm betting you spend money while in the park - at least on food.
