as we are gonna for the first time .. usin the fp machines this time around

are they close by and easily to find near each ride ??

i cant remember

Some are close by and others you have to look for, if I remember correctly. It has been 2 years, though. Anybody.....?

That's about right. If I can't find them I ask a CM. Like for the Haunted Mansion Holiday I had to ask because they were back out of the way and the reg. HM doesn't use FP.

The one that's probably the least obvious is Splash Mountain. The line starts closer to the HM side, but you have to go past the line entrance, right around the other side of the mountain, more near the exit, to find the FP machines.

Hi! Yes, rides that have FastPass options keep the machines near the ride. As others have responded, the machines aren't necessarily next to the entrance, which makes them tough to find if the park is crowded.

Here's some. Let's see if my memory serves me right...lol

  • Indiana Jones: there's a bank of machines to the left of the entrance, between IJ and the Jungle Cruise.
  • Haunted Mansion: To the left of the entrance, about thirty paces or so. You'll see them on the right.
  • Splash Mountain: Go past the entrance and walk along the attraction. I think it's near the offloading exit?
  • Space Mountain: At the back of the long walkway entrance. It's to the right.
  • Peter Pan and Nemo Submarines: In your dreams. These kiosks also spit out free park tickets.
  • Thunder Mountain Railroad: It's definitely near the entrance...but I can't remember what side it's on... hmmm!

I know there are more FP rides but these are the FP's we used the most.

:)

BIg thunder-- it is to the right of the entrance in a little covered area. Yeah I didn't realize that they sort of try to camouflage the fast pass machines. no wonder people haven't caught on to the system yet lol.
Oh-- Roger Rabbit to the left of the ride entrance quite a ways really, close to the buidings.
Screamin- to the left of the entrnace I think-- I went on the single rider line so many times, I'm not sure. Don't remember TOT we did get one for it but the second time I went I had found someones discarded one on the ground and used it. Soarin' is to the left of the entrance in a covered area. Gizzly is also to the left of it's entrance if I remember, and the lockers were a little hard for me to find too- way to the left of the ride-- great lockers though- first 2 hours free.

I wouldn't give it too much thought; just be on the lookout for the "FASTPASS DISTRIBUTION" signs. For the most part, you'll be able to figure it out without having to ask someone. :goodvibes

Posted below is "A Photographic Explanation" from the HydroGuy Tips Compilation:

When you go to a FastPass (FP) enabled ride at DLR there will be three lines.

1. Standby line - this is just the regular line

2. FastPass Distribution line - this is where you get your FPs

3. FastPass Return line - this is where you use your FPs

In some cases all three lines are right next to each other (such as Space Mtn) while in other cases they are all in three different areas (such as Splash Mtn). When they are in different locations like Splash it can be a little confusing where to find each line. Ask a Cast Member for help.

Below are pictorial links to California Screamin' at DCA on what this looks like. Some of the pictures are a bit blurry - my apologies. I had to use my DS13's digital camera which is just not very good. Someone misplaced my Kodak and I did not have it with me.

We were at California Screamin' (CS) at 10:57AM. See:

At CS the Standby and FastPass distribution lines are right next to each other - see

S5030611Small.jpg

In the above link you can see that the regular Standby line was about 20 minutes long. The CS FastPass Return line happens to be about 15 feet to the right - see

S5030615Small.jpg

So at 10:57AM you can see here

S5030611Small.jpg

that the FastPass return window was 11:35AM-12:35PM. The FP windows start off the day 40-45 minutes away from the present time and then, for popular rides, extends further out as the day progresses. For example, on this particular day we got a Space Mtn FP at 3:05PM and the return window was 8:40-9:40PM. However, in the summer of 2005 all of the Space Mtn FPs would have been gone by 3PM because of its popularity.

To get a FP, enter the FastPass Distribution line (the one on the left for CS) and there will be 5-10 FastPass machines. See

S5030616Small.jpg

Take your entrance ticket that you used to enter DLR and insert it into the slot. See

S5030617Small.jpg

S5030618Small.jpg

After a few seconds a FastPass will spit out. See

S5030619Small.jpg

Take the FP and your entrance ticket (do not forget that or you will be hating life) and then either get another FP for someone else in your group or just leave.

The FP will look like this:

S5030620Small.jpg

Here you can see that the by the time we actually got to the FP machine and got our FP the window had moved out 5 minutes to 11:40AM-12:40PM.

Also read at the bottom of the FP the next time you can get another FP. It will always be at least 40 minutes away but never more than 2 hours - at least as long as DLR maintains the current FP rules.

In this case the next FP time would be 40 minutes away - or 11:40AM as printed at the bottom of the FP.

Come back after 11:40AM to use this FP and go to the FastPass Return line. See:

HTH :earsboy:

I love that thread, it explained FP to me better than anything else in books or in a thread. I'm so visual, I gotta see a picture to understand.

Oh, ToT, somebody said they weren't sure where it was-- it's across the walkway from the entrance.

Entrance this way <----------- walkway --------------> Covered area for FP distribution

Yep, I'm visually oriented. :rotfl:

These are not normally in use. Only during the holiday season.

  • Splash Mountain: Go past the entrance and walk along the attraction. I think it's near the offloading exit?

Walk along the line of the attraction, and just after you pass the Brer store, its on the left side right against the line. If you made it to the fast pass return entrance, you have gone too far. Its right across from the Hungry Bear.

  • Space Mountain: At the back of the long walkway entrance. It's to the right.

    Correct

  • Peter Pan and Nemo Submarines: In your dreams. These kiosks also spit out free park tickets.

    Nope, none, ziltch

  • Thunder Mountain Railroad: It's definitely near the entrance...but I can't remember what side it's on... hmmm!

If you are looking at the entrance to BTMRR, the fast pass machines are to the right.

I know there are more FP rides but these are the FP's we used the most.

:)

Buzz Lightyear machines are just to the right off the entrance. Before you get to the shop and the walkway to Tomorrow land terrance.

Autopia are near the walkway entrance to that ride as well.

I remember them being up, almost like you are going into Innoventions.

Stacerita, it's interesting you mention that Indy is only in use at holidaytimes...I've never seen it not in use... Trying to remember when I've used them (or at least gotten them...I rarely ever *use* my FPs because it's so unnecessary on most of my trips!) I guess officially early October, mid September, early December, and immediately after Memorial Day weekend could be considered holidaytimes, but I never really see the crowds you would think go along with it. Hmm.

I think Indy is the hardest to find, even if looking at signs, because it *really* looks like they are pointing you towards Jungle Cruise, and the machines are kind of in what seems like it would be that ride's line.

I love the Screamin' machine design. :)

For Soarin', if you are following directions, you are nearly getting into the normal line, then you veer off to the left and straight, where everyone else is turning right. But most people just go in the exit to the FP machines there.:rolleyes1

Kittyskyfish, love the joke! Free park tickets! Oh how cool would THAT be? :rotfl:
