Fastpass in the afternoon

I plan on visiting WDW mid June. My last visit was 9 years ago. I've been doing my homework and plan on getting to the parks early, taking a midday break, and returning in the afternoon.

I've heard that Fastpasses can be gone by early afternoon. When entering the parks, is there any way to find out what attractions still have FastPasses available without running all over to the attractions themselves?

My morning strategy is sound: follow the Unoffical Guide touring plan. But I'm not sure about the best strategy for afternoon returns, say getting back to the park around 3:00pm.

Any suggestions?

There's a board in the parks not too far in that tell about the wait times -- I don't remember them having info about Fast Pass, but I could be wrong. But I do think there is usually a Disney CM by them and I'm sure they could tell you.

First welcom to the DIS. Glad you found us as you can see there is so much info here. A great planning tool for your trip.

During the busy seasons it is common for major attractions to run out of FP's by lunch time. However, you may be able to get some for later in the day before you leave for your break. I don't think there is anyplace that keeps that info updated because the # of FP's is changing constantly. However, I could be wrong. Someone else may know for sure.

Test Track at Epcot sells out of Fastpasses the earliest--around 2:00 pm. Peter Pan/Pooh/Space Mt/Splash Mt. in the MK sell out first usually after 5:00 pm with very late return times. Remember with the long vrtual wait it will be two hours before you may get another Fastpass. Everything will be unavailable by 8:00 pm.
