Fastpass Enforcement coming?

Why is everyone assuming that all of a sudden now, you'll be waiting in long lines all day? You're still going to have FPs.

Why are you assuming, we will still have FP?:confused3

. I'm thinking back a few months and how upset people were (and some still are) about the credit card guarantee for certain ADRs. But now as the effects of the policy are starting to be seen, many people are reporting how pleasntly surprised and happy they were with the added availability

This wasn't an issue, until Disney offered "free dining" pretty much year round. Ugh, I'll drop it there... that's another thread.

What I wonder is this: All the people who liked to "hoard" FPs for use at the end of the day...what did you do during the day besides collect FPs? What did you do in between when you got your first FP and the few hours until you can obtain another one?
All of what people?
I don't get the "hoarding" comments. Guests aren't breaking the rules..times and quantities are restricted. Disney has NOT changed their policy, regarding FP distribution.

Disney's Official site:
Please keep in mind:

FASTPASS tickets are only valid on the day of issue.

Everyone in your party using the FASTPASS ticketholder entrance must have a FASTPASS ticket.

There's a limit to the number of FASTPASS tickets you may have at one time.
On your ticket will be printed the time at which you can get your next one.
Disney's FASTPASS Service machines won't issue another ticket until the time stated on your current one

There has really been no actual buzz that Fastpass is going away. Everything seems to indicate, at least for the short term, that it is not going anywhere.

I didn't hoard my FPs for the end of the day, but I'll let you know what I did in the middle of the day. I would take the FPs DH and I collected during the morning and switch off riding the thrill rides while DS napped in the stroller.

A lot of the times our FPs just happened to coincide with nap time, other times it may have been a few hours later then the printed window.

It worked out great because we didn't have to bore DS with rider swap, and DH and I didn't have to miss out on the headliners.

I am assuming that most of the hoarders have little kids who are napping in the middle of the day. Some people take their kids back to the hotel, others (like me) have kids that will happily nap in the parks. Either way the kids are sleeping during the 12ish-3ish FP return window.

Where have you seen in ANY official literature that FastPass is going away?

There changes are coming, but exactly what...we're all speculating, assuming, (groaning) etc. Disney isn't in the habit of giving much notice, regarding cutbacks, closures, etc. Personally, I believe....FP, as we know it, will not exist in the near future.

Ok, so by your logic, the new head of North Korea HASN'T said he won't apply for NATO, so we should print up the "Welcome To NATO" banner?

My personal experience is that we are riding rides/attractions while accumulating FP's. The first 2 - 3 hours the park is open are the SLOWEST of the day - so we hit as many as we can while lines are low to non-existent. And we can accumulate more FP's by getting them early. So we'll get a FP and then ride Standby the biggest 2 rides at that park. Then we'll get our next FP and likely ride Standby at another couple of things. Then we'll get another FP. Then it's just about lunch time. Our general rule of thumb is to try to ride as many of our favorites that have a wait of 20 minutes or less. If it gets to be more than that - we will use the FP to ride it after lunch. So even though we have a FP for Rock N Roller...Since the Standby line is still 20 minutes - it doesn't make sense to use it. We'll ride Standby and then use the FP later when the wait is 90 minutes. We will occassionally use a FP or two earlier in the day - but only on really busy days.

So what date does this go into effect? My sister is there now and she is still able to use them several hours past the window...

We have 88 pages of unofficial info, speculation, opinions and hyperbole (my personal favorite:thumbsup2) sprinkled with a few facts...don't know if "logic" figures into this discussion.;):rotfl2:

Fastpass is old, tired and FREE. Disney's all set to roll out the Next Gen...XPass. I guess, it won't be long, until this all shakes out.

They will not be enforcing fastpass return times because fastpass is ending. Xpass will replace fastpass and it will be a whole new system. :thumbsup2

Pete said that 150 something pages is the max, because at that point, it begins to adversely affect the network.

Really? I know there have been quite a few threads over in the Community Board that didn't max out til 250 pages. In any event, there will likely be several more incarnations of this topic before all is said and done.

Has there been any confirmation of any of this news?

Oh, and howdy everyone. I finally decided to join in all the fun. :) I'm a dis newbie, but not a Disney newbie.

I'm glad this forum is the same as a couple other forums I frequent. Much easier to figure out. LOL

Welcome!

There has been confirmation (as much as we're likely to get - the CMs have been notified) that the FP return times will be strictly enforced starting March 7th. Much of the rest is rumor, although it IS known that a new system is coming that will either be used in conjunction with (which is what I believe) or as a replacement for Fastpass.

Thank you for the further information. :) It will be interesting to find out how the new system will work.
