Fastpass changes are coming

Good Morning - Disney Maniacs :lmao:Happy Thanksgiving to all. Not to take away from the original poster of this thread, but I have a couple of things to share.

As you can see my DD and I are avid WDW goer's. Whatever Disney decides to do with the fast pass system is alright with me. We'll go with the flow. BUT the thing that bothers me to no end is when the park opens, there are massive heards of people running with and dragging their poor children to get to the rides to ride the ride or to obtain fast passes for later in the moring, afternoon and / or evening.

I have seen children of all ages get trampled on or over getting knocked down by their own perents and other guests, screaming at them to hurry up and stop crying or else we'll go back to the hotel. Parents arguing with other people and getting into heated discussions over who ran over and why did you run over my Daughter and / or son. It is heart breaking to see the children get treated like this. Two families argued and fought the whole time they were in line to ride the ride over this.

Once again sorry to detour this thread to another topic.

To be honest, I've seen the things you cite before FP existed, and still now during the course of the day, as people try to get to as many attractions as possible with overtired children.

If anything, enforcement of FP times would increase this as families rush across a park to make their FP window.

But one of the announced nextgen features to come is being able to get FPs in advance. We still haven't a single clue how this will work, but it came out of Iger's mouth...

If you can post a link to where Iger said this I'd appreciate it. Because I don't think that it ever happened. I believe it was interpolated from somthing else her said last Winter.

idk it would seem to me that if that was the type of thing Iger is deciding or planning, then he's doing a ridiculous amount of micromanagement

It wasn't Iger, it was Staggs -- but yes, he came right out and said it. I believe he called it "a Fastpass for the entire Disney vacation" and went into some detail. It was earlier this year... If I wasn't stuffed with turkey I might Google it but I'm sure it's easy enough to find for anyone interested enough.

Yes, thank you - it was Staggs, not Iger. Got confused on my announcements.

Good Morning - Thanks for your response, I totaly agree about getting worse. Has anyone heard anymore about the new roller cooster park, featuring 17 coosters? I heard about it in July from a CM at Expedition Everest. my DD loves that ride, she rode it 14 times in a row. DD went through the singles line and got on quickly. The CM told me that the record is around 435 in a single day from a man that visits annually. From where?, I can not remember.

I believe you are referring to NYDisneyKid. He is currently the EE record holder. I forgot how many times he has ridden it in total, but it is a HUGE amount! I saw a video of him for an online blog, I cannot remember which website, though.

There have been many rumors of a fifth park, but as far as can be determined outside the boardroom there are no near-term plans for one. There are almost certainly several different "blue sky" plans for them though, and that is likely where some of the rumors come from.

An additional park would be an enormous expense with little return. It would likely only come about if/when they are having capacity problems at the other 4 and need to dilute the crowds. That can be accomplished more cheaply by expansions at the other parks for now, as they are doing with FLE at MK and Pandora at AK.

I heard this same rumor, from a Bus Driver, about 15 years ago.

I remember a sister thread that went a few days in early to mid October from either a CM or a CM's significant other that FP changes were coming in either a couple weeks or November 1. They were pretty adamant about it too.

I PM'ed them a week or so ago pointing out that their little prediction fell by the wayside (yet again) and that was why I at least was so jaded against such predictions. I think I was pretty nice about it too--believe it or not! No response, by the way.

I used FPs "late" all day yesterday on a very busy day at MK with no problems. And several CMs confirmed when asked or outright volunteered we could use them late--as always.

I will say that things do not seem to move quickly at all within Disney when it comes to change. No real time frame was given to me so I am not sure how long until we actually see any changes.

i'm sure that when we just start to forget about it something will happen.

Good Morning Friend - Thanks for the information - I understand it better now.

Forget? Are you kidding? We haven't forgotten about Fastpass changes since 2006, or Fastpass from your resort (2007-ish?), Nightly Kingdom, or the monorail expansion, or the 18 versions of the return of the Adventurers Club, or the coaster replacing COP, or...

This is the DIS. Where rumors to to be undead.

This thread will die sometime soon. I say we have another thread with the exact same or slight variation of this one within 6 months. likely before 6 months.

As noted by others, this kind of behavior will always exist in some form at WDW or any other family tourist destination.

That said, I wonder what impact "reserving FPs from your room" might have on the typical rope-drop dash.

As it stands now, the strategy for many park visitors is to arrive at the park prior to rope drop, then spend the first hour or two of park time dashing from one superheadliner to another, in some combination of riding and acquiring FPs.

But if visitors are allowed to reserve up to, say, 4, sets of FPs from their rooms, the need to employ this kind of "commando" touring could be significantly mitigated.

Take DHS, for instance. As it stands now, the main strategy for thousands is to go directly to TSM. It's a stampede of people, with instant lines forming for both FP and standby. Once finished at TSM, many guests find the need to rush to the RnR/ToT area, and ride and/or acquire FPs for those attractions. It can make for a hectic approach to experiencing the park.

But suppose, as rumored, guests could instead reserve FPs before leaving their rooms. They could walk in the gate for the day with FPs already in hand for TSM, RnR, ToT and Star Tours. With their spots on those attractions guaranteed, a whole range of options opens up ... they could stroll over to one of the less popular attractions ... they could wander in and our of the shops near the park entrance ... they could go to any of the aforementioned superheadliners and get in an extra ride. They could even sleep in, eat a nice breakfast and arrive at the park an hour or two after opening.

There would still likely be some significant advantages to being at Rope Drop of course; and I doubt the stampede would ever disappear completely.

But guests would have options. And considering that some of those options (breakfast, shopping) involve spending money, I can't help but think that this could be a part of what Disney would be going for. After all, that's the whole point of FP — keeping guests out of lines, and keeping them moving through the parks, where they will spend money.

In an earlier post in this thread, I expressed skepticism about the rumored changes to FP. But after considerable thought, I can see numerous advantages to some of the discussed possibilities.
