Essentially if anyone ever waited in line for it, it's going to have FASTPASS installed soon.

Everything from Journey into Imagination to the Great Movie Ride. It'll probably make a big difference in how folks choose to tour the parks. Imagine getting a FASTPASS for Disney Jr. Live on Stage...? Or Turtle Talk..?

Yikes! :crazy2:

Meh, we've seen this coming for a while now. Still doesn't make much sense to experienced guests, though.

I think it's good if it draws people to the attractions that don't really need them. Should free up more FPs (or quicker times) for other things, don't you think?

They need somewhere to put the advance FP reservations once the headliners are all full 180 days out.

I have no doubt that's exactly what the suits have in mind, and is a likely necessity if reports about how FP+ may work are true.

Doesn't mean I still don't think it's pretty dumb. ;)

An important bit I think we're all kind of glossing over: Fantasmic is getting FASTPASS as part of this installation.

I think it will be a good thing too. Any word on when it is happening? I would love a Fantasmic fast pass:cool1:

LOL! Exactly! If only this did not sound like a possibility!!

These permits are usually filed within a week or two (sometimes the same day) as they begin work. So the signage itself should reasonably be up by the end of the year, maybe even the end of the month.

When they choose to use it, however, is anyone's guess.

Some standby lines go slower when there are fastpasses...it seems like it will be a longer wait to ride anything, unless you have a fastpass. I wonder if they will change the number of fastpasses you can have at one time? It seems like it could lead to overall longer waits - sure you get on one or two things faster, but then wait longer on the rides in between your fastpasses. Plus, I don't want to have to go by every ride to get a fastpass and then come back to it later to ride it. The parks are enough walking as it is without doubling it and that alone could eat into your time.

Ah well, I guess having a really good touring plan will be even more important. :)

I've heard a little about FP+. I'm not sure I am looking forward to it if it means getting on 180 days in advance to reserve ride time. I stress out enough trying to figure out when and what the family will want to eat each day and committing to a park. Now we have to figure out when and what rides we will be on. Yikes. Im a planner but it takes some of the Magic out for me and replaces it with more stress.

~This is great! I think Fastpasses for F! could be fabulous, especially for the second show! Hopefully, all the park guests who think this is "stupid" won't use FP+, but that's just wishful thinking on my part, lol. Thanks so much for the update! :goodvibes

Disney's idea of creating fast Pass + is becoming a little silly and full on, just because people plan to know what restaurant they watnt to eat at and at what time 180 days in advance does not mean people are going to want to plan days based on rides. Its getting a little bit out of control and rather silly for everyday guests. I just don't see what the problem was with the way the old fast pass system worked. Every one was happy, guests got to ride the rides when THEY wanted to and weren't told oh sorry you can't ride this ride for 2-3 hours because other people have booked a spot 180 days ago

I didn't say FP+ would be stupid, it's too early to come to that conclusion. Similarly, it's too early to assume it will be fabulous.

FPs at these attractions, with the already-noted exception of Fantasmic, is in my opinion dumb.

I'm not sold on the idea either. Partly because we don't always plan our trips that far out. I think our last 5 trips were all planned closer than 180 days to travel time

Well, I guess I won't shoot the whole thing down until the details are released. Disney isn't dumb. They're not going to do something that doesn't make sense on some level. Right? ;)

I'm still undecided on how I feel about FP+, but I know for sure it will make it even harder on those who are going for their FIRST trip!
It's hard enough to pick which hotel to stay at, then which tickets you want, THEN which dining plan you want AND make ADR's.....now you have to pick rides, too?? Seems that will add even more stress to a Disney vacation.
Also, what about the first-timers that don't know you need to do this 6 mos in advance?? They will go to plan this wonderful vacation 3-4 mos in advance and not get FP's for the more major rides because they were gone at the 180 day mark.
Seems this will be workable for those of us who have been several times...but may discourage first time visitors.

This is making me even more concerned about how FP+ will affect local passholders like me, and those who take last minute trips. If people are booking FPs like ADRs, how will we ever be able to take advantage of them? The FP system being free and readily available to all guests is one of the things that has always set Disney apart from other theme parks. It has worked very well. Why they feel the need to change that now is beyond me. Using a wristband/RFID is fine by me and is probably a good change from the paper tickets. But having to reserve FPs in advance is NOT an improvement. I will be very, very disappointed if this means I can't show up to a park and have a chance to get FPs for the most popular rides.

ITA. I do not like the FP+ AT. ALL. And I am an obsessive planner too. I make my ADR's at 7 a.m. at exactly 180-days, but I have NO interest in planning my rides. NONE. I think everything is fine the way it is except they could use FP on a few more rides, but this whole t hing is ridiculous.
