Fastpass and rider swap

Ok so I'm a little confused.

Is it possible to use rider swap in conjunction with a fast pass? And if so how???

We had planned on just doing single rider or just one of us go on at a time with a fast pass and then the other person goes, but... if we can all go through the line at once, that would be easier, I think.

A child under the height limit cannot go in line. They will give you a rider swap pass at the line entrance that is good for up to 2 people. What you can do is get 1 FP for Indy and 1 for Splash with the other ticket and use the rider swap as a FP for the other person.

Scenario: mom, dad and baby

mom's ticket: 1 FP for Indy
dad's ticket: 1 FP for Splash
one person rides with FPs and gets rider swaps for other parent

Double the FPs in half the time!

We just noticed this weekend that some of the baby swap lines are changing. Which is good and bad. Good that they make sure someone does wait in the line, bad because now we can't us FPs. They give you a pass thing to carry in the standby line and then when you get to the loading platform another CM gives you a child swap pass. I do not know if all rides will be doing this shortly but they did this on big thunder and screamin. I actually like it because it means people cannot cheat the system but like I said...makes it harder to use a FP first.

I guess I don't understand how using a FP is "cheating"? Why would they force you into the standby line if you have a valid FP to use? I could see them asking for 2 FP's -- one for each rider, before handing out the baby swap card, but not eliminating the option of using FP altogether.

Double-dipping maybe, but cheating the system? We've done all the rides this way for the past several years I'm bummed that they are changing it.

Anyone else had this experience?

This is exactly our plan. And I don't really see it as cheating the system. I mean, we still have to wait around and basically take the time to ride each of the bigger rides twice so I see it as even-ing out the playing field for those of us with small dcs. Just my thought. ;)

Also, can anyone clarify how many people can use a child swap pass? We will be going with 2 other adults and were planning on going 2 adults & dd4 w/ FP, then other 2 adults & dd4 can ride again if she wants w/ child swap pass. I read somewhere that it was up to 3 people? Any info would be great! :)

I read on here just a day or two ago that someone said the same thing about someone having to carry/put around neck a pass to give to CM at loading BUT that person was in the FP line, so... so far what I've been reading at least is that it's just a new system of actually getting the pass, not having anything to do with fast pass or not. ;) Let's hope! Only 3 weeks to go for us! :)

Were you refused entrance through the fastpass line? A few weeks ago we used 3 FP to get 2 kids and me into BTMR fastpass line, but we did have to ask for the rider switch pass where we loaded (used to get rider switch pass at fastpass entrance). Then the 2 kids and other adult went up the exit and rode pretty much immediately.
If they are making people wait standby to use rider switch I guess that saves a few fastpass slots we can all ride together.

We have had the lanyard kid swap on Screamin' and it has been awhile.... probably a year or so! And we were in the FP line also. I think it has less to do with "cheating" and more to do with the person acually has to board the ride to get the swap ticket.
And at Dl it is 2 people per ticket. So if you have more than one ride buddy, you will have to take turns re-riding!

We did this exact thing recently on Space. DD11 and I used our FP to enter and got a child swap pass for my DNephew2.5. We were given a thing to wear around our neck and give to the CM just before we boarded-he gave us the child swap.. Worked like a charm!:goodvibes Then 2 of us used the FP the last CM gave us to ride again, going through the exit. We were back on the ride in about 5 minutes and standby was probably around 60 mins. that day.

No one said anything about not being able to use FP and a child swap together. This just wouldn't make sense.:confused3

Personally I see why they now do this. Here's the scenario....

A family walks up to the CM at the entrance and asks for a child swap. They ask to see who isn't riding. After being pointed out they give the family the swap pass. A few of the family stays behind while the rest enter the standby line and go on their way. But then wait...they decide not to ride right then. They exit the standby line and now have a child swap in their hands to use anytime. The CMs aren't going to be able to pay attention to all guests entering so if the party with the child swap uses fairly soon they may not notice. I've seen this done but the new method of getting the child swap just before boarding eliminates this plan.

It's good for 2 people. The WDW ones are 3 people.

We've had to do this once and it was an issue that the CM at the front of the line was out of passes. It's a signal for the loading operators to send more passes back to the front of the line. We've also had the lanyards for things like timing line waits.

I think you are confused with what I said but perhaps I wasn't really clear lol I did not meant that using a FP and then rider swap is cheating. What I meant is that before often CMs would just give us the pass without making sure we got into the line at all. Hubby often helped the kids and I get settled on a bench before he got in line. We didn't cheat but we very well could have. I like the new system in that they make sure someone waits in line, whether it be standby or regular, before they are able to get a swap pass. And yes, the girl did tell dh to go into the regular line but perhaps she wasn't aware that he was trying to us a FP as well. I am not against using FP and then swap passes as we have done this many many times. I just was surprised they are not giving them out right away at the line entrance any longer.

Ohhhhhh, this is VERY good to know!!!! Well I guess dd just won't get to go both rounds on the days we're there with our friends, but can when we're alone as a family. THANK YOU for clearing this up for me!!!!! TRULY! I couldn't find concrete info anywhere! You totally saved me some headache in the moment! :thumbsup2

They gave us the thing to carry in line at Space Mountain... as they let us into the FP line.

OP, here's what we did:

Everyone shows up at the FP entrance.
Mom and Teen turn over fast passes and collect either a rider swap pass or a thing to take to the loading CM who will trade for a RS pass.
Mom and Teen ride, Dad and Baby wait at exit.
Mom takes Baby, Dad takes Teen and RS pass.
Dad and Teen ride.

Now, this does mean that we collected 3 FPs and only used 2. In practice, we did not get an extra benefit (except Teen who gets to ride twice) but we could have used that 3rd FP later for one person or if we'd collected two sets of FPs we'd then have had two leftovers which would essentially have given us 3 sets of FPs for 2 collections. 3 rides for each adult, 6 for teen. We thought that was a little unfair though, so we didn't. You could though and it's the way the system is set up. Whether you go Fast Pass or stand by, the person left waiting gets to go Fast Pass.

It is NOT cheating the system to use FP and rider swap together. Go ahead and have a great time! :)
