Does anybody know the logistics of FP+ and child swap?

Here’s the question: Daughter is 6 and 48 inches, and Son is 3 and 37 inches. We are testing FP+ on our upcoming trip. Can I book Space Mountain at 3:15: PM for wife and daughter, and Buzz for son and I at 3:15 PM and also get a rider switch ticket, so I can ride Space with my daughter after we’ve utilized our FP+ ride entrances?

I know I can split us up the way I’ve described above, as that’s what I’ve done on MyDisneyExperience.com. But I don’t know if I’ll need to switch back to having us all together, even though son can’t ride Space, so I can get a switch ticket and ride with my daughter.

When I think about it, FP+ probably hasn’t changed this policy, since we could have done the same thing (theoretically) with paper FastPasses.

So I’d appreciate any personal experience with either of these scenarios…or a re-direction to a thread that discusses this. I did a search, but didn’t find anything.

Thanks!

When we booked our FP+ it wouldn't let us overlap times for two different attractions. I know with child swap you all have to go up to the attendent and let the CM see the child not riding before giving out the swap pass.

We did the FP+ and Child Swap this past weekend. Three of us went and 1 stayed with DD, after we pointed out the one staying behind. When the three were done, two got to go again with the one who stayed with DD. Also, the one who stayed back didn't have to use their FP on their turn so essentially they could have used their FP on another ride (CM actually told me this). I realize this night not be the question but I just wanted to give my experience. Also, as I believe you mentioned, on MDE app you could pick who you wanted to apply to the specific FP so I see no reason why you couldn't do 2 on one ride and 2 on another...not sure about the swapping part though??

Oh yeah forgot you could pick which ones for FP+ but also it only allows those 2 to pick for that day at that park. Never tried doing 2 others for the same day same park but different attractions. It was only me and my DD.

This is exactly what I was trying to find out....thanks!

Not sure if I said it well before, but you can split your group up and get different FP+ for different rides at the same time. Right now we have the times I mentioned above reserved in the MDE system for FP+. Sounds like if all 4 of us present ourselves at the SM FP reader, we can get a rider switch ticket without me having a FP reserved for that ride at that time. Don't think this is any different than the way paper FPs work/worked, so sounds like there's no change.

Glad I could help! It was nice, definitely. I'm not familiar the child swap as this was my first time visiting as a parent. We didn't discover this awesome tool until our second day, but then again we didn't really need it before.

does rider swap if it is two adults and two children and neither child can ride but the adults want to?

i.e. could my husband ride while I stayed with the children and then when he was done I could ride?

thanks

Absolutely.

Two adults and two kids ages 3 and 6. Lets say youngest not ready barnstormer. What do I need to do? Reserve 3 fast pass plus for barnstormer. At entry ask for ride swap. Mom rides with 6 year old with fast pass plus (2). They get off. Then dad rides with 6 year old with fast pass three?? Or are you saying I can use two fast pass plus in this scenario and use the other two for Ariel grotto that the 6 year old has no interest in?

Must a ride swap happen instantly? Or can u keep the swap "ticket" and do the ride again in an hour or two? Not sure barnstormer back to back great for my 6 year old. Might hit dumbo or see a character between.

Yes you can. I was able to do this exact thing several times with our kids.

A rider switch ticket allows 3 party members to ride using the FP line, but without having to use a FP+ entitlement. So in that scenario, Mom and 6 yo reserve FP+ for barnstormer, Dad and 3 yo reserve FP+ for Ariel. On the day of, whole family presents themselves at Barnstormer (or height restricted ride of your choice) and a rider switch pass is issued. It can be used at any time that day or sometimes even days later (expiration is on the pass).
