Fastest way to DTD from MK?

I am looking for the fastest way to DTD from MK-using the buses...thanks!

The are no busses from DTD to MK. You can take a bus to any resort and then wait for transportation to the MK. If you take a bus to a MK resort, you can take a boat, Monorail, or (in the case of CR) walk for the second leg.

May I ask why you're asking? If the reason is that you're staying on-site without a rental car and you intend to visit MK after a meal at DTD, then you're asking a good question.

However, sometimes people ask this question because they're trying to save the $14 parking fee. While I agree that $14 is ridiculously high for open air parking, waiting for connecting bus transportation at both ends of a MK day is waste of valuable time. Visiting the MK is expensive too. So it makes more sense to maximize your time at the MK. Not only that, but the free parking at DTD is for people who are shopping or dining at DTD.

The reason is that we're staying on-site without a rental car and we intend to visit DTD after MK.
Which resort would be the best to get a connecting bus to DTD? closest or fastest?

I would walk over to the CR and take the DTD bus from there. It's a quick walk from MK to the CR.

Well something to remember the bus from the Contemporary will also stop and pick up guests at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian, since those three resorts share bus service.

The fastest way from DTD to MK is via the CR bus. When you get to the CR, just walk over to MK...about 8 mins.

9 for me. :tiptoe:

:teeth:

I agree also, that is the fastest.
What??? Are your legs getting shorter Dan?? Too funny. Must be that dread old age creeping in...I know, I'm there.

People....keep in mind that the OP asked what the quickest way FROM DTD to MK is...not from MK to DTD.

We have been thru this before. Did your DTD buses go to the Poly AND the GF this trip? I know that I worked at DTD the last 2 weekends and had several CO/PO runs. Not once did I drive to the GF if I went to the Contemporary and the Polynesian.

Only the Studios buses go to all three MK resorts.

From DTD the CO bus goes to the Poly and then back to DTD
From AK the CO bus goes to the Poly and then to AK/BB
From Studios, the CO bus goes to the Poly and the GF and then back to Studios.

From DTD the WL bus goes to the GF after WL
From AK the WL bus goes to the GF after WL

So to answer the OP, the fastest way to/from DTD to/from MK using Disney Transport is to walk to the CO (8-10 minutes), take the DTD bus which makes 1 additional stop at the Poly before returning to DTD

Thanks so much for all the replies...I really appreciate the help!
Also, now that I know what resort to walk to.....
Is the bus-stop at the Contemporary out front?
a covered shelter of some sort?

From my experience reading posts on here, fast and Disney buses are rarely said in the same paragraph...Good luck, but be prepared to wait for dem buses!

Not trying to be smart, but Here is the OPs question

The walk from the MK to the CR is not covered, but the bus stop area at the CR is covered. As you walk from the MK towards the CR, just stay on the walkway and you will walk right to the bus stop area, you can not miss it. As you face the CR from the MK the bus stop is in the front but towards the left of the CR

Crap!! When will I learn to stop speed-reading!! You're right..I'm incredibly wrong. Sorry....what a doofus (me, not you).

Yes then....walk over to the CR from MK, then take the bus to DTD. That's what I said, right???

When I was there yes they did.

When I was there yes they did.

Then I have no idea what your Downtown Disney drivers was doing. You were definitely not on my bus. It's not the route that the MIM's system has, it's not what we have been trained to do.

The official routes from DTD are as I have been stating for the last 3 years.

Downtown Disney bus routes to Magic Kingdom resorts are Contemporary / Polynesian from LZ 3 and Wilderness Lodge / Grand Floridian from LZ 4.
Fort Wilderness gets its own bus also from LZ 4.

After the Marketplace closes at 12am then the WL/GF bus also will take the FW guests.

I have never been sent on a CO/PO/GF route from Downtown Disney and I have been driving the DTD hub for the last 2 1/2 years.

I have been sent on this route (CO/PO/GF) from DHS as it IS the official route.

I have no need to mislead our guests, that's why I post here. To give the most factual, up to date information as possible. If I don't know something, I don't post or I go to official sources to get the correct info.

Cranbiz...have to say that I take your advice every time. I haven't been on a CR resort bus that made all three stops in a very long time. I do know that when I was there in Dec, the bus I got on at the CR, stopped at the Polynesian and then continued on.
But, to be honest...I have heard of drivers setting their own routes on occasion.
But...thanks for all your imput. It is very much appreciated.

Thank you Diane.

You are correct that there are drivers that make up their own routes. Sometimes, I have too.(Insert Sr. Moment while driving) ;) Some of my better ones have been from Magic to SSR by way of Epcot Center Dr and from Magic to AKL by way of POP Century.

It would be rare though for a driver to consistantly go to the wrong resort combination.

Now after the parks are closed, anything goes. A couple of weeks ago I was running the park to park bus from TTC to AK. AK closed at 7pm, MK closed at 9pm but had EMH until midnight. After about 9pm my questions to the guests at the TTC went from "Are you going to AK to pick up your car?" to "Where do you need to go tonight?"

Those are the best nights. We do that in watercraft on late nights too. I'll take guests straight from the lodge to the poly or grand if I know the guest flow is low enough not to interrupt the overall guest experience. The same thing on the gold, we will start playing musical boats and just take ppl straight to the poly if there are no GF guests on board. I still swing by the GF to make sure no one is on the dock needing to be picked up, but it's much quicker overall.
