Fastest location to pick up AP

We need to activate ours when we get there too. Our 2 choices are DS around lunch time or before entering HS in the afternoon (after DS lunch). Out of these 2 choices, which would be quicker?

Best guess, DHS.
Shouldn't be too many other guests entering in the afternoon.

(But, if you are going to DS anyway, and you are near the DS "Welcome Center" (DS' Guest Relations) just stop by and ask how long would be your wait.)

Thanks Robo! Will do just this.

This was our first renewal, so cannot say if it is a change, but we were turned away at the gates and had to go to the window to get our MB activated with the renewed AP. I was under the assumption it would already be linked, since the AP showed renewed online, but nope.
If your experience turns out different, please let us know. I would then at least like to know if we did something wrong and could save us time next year when we renew.
I wanted to let you know that we were able to get into Epcot yesterday without having to go to the ticket window to get our renewed AP's activated. Our MB's worked to get us in the park. That has been the case for several years now. But we did have to stop at a ticket booth later to pick up our passholder card. We used the ticket booth at the international gateway and there wasn't anyone in line. We had to show our photo ID and our MB in order to get the AP cards.

So apparently we didn't think this through. Our entire family has activated APs except for our youngest who recently turned 3. We have the voucher and weren't thinking about how long it would take when we thought we'd just arrive at MK on our first day at rope drop. Sounds like could be standing in line for a while. Our flight the night before doesn't get in until 9, so we might not get to the resort until 11. Ugh. I guess we should just shoot for hopping on the bus the next morning at 6am to get to MK?!

Do we need to do a double check on the bands since we're in line anyway? I feel like we have 8 million bands but we are going to use the ones they're sending to us for our upcoming resort stay. I'd hate to wait in that line to activate my daughter's AP and then find out our bands aren't linked, only to have to stand in the line again.

Your bands should be fine, but I've had the hotel desk cast member check mine before. They should be able to help with that.

Thanks for this thread. I went into MDE and our new APs were not linked to our names. I had gotten exchange certificates last month which I attributed to the fact that I bought the AP's over the phone and not bought them online but I thought they were linked already. I called ticket inquiries to have them do that and there was no problem. I would have been so upset if I tried to get FPP at 60 days and there was an error because the ticket wasn't attached to my name. Having the exchange certificates right in front of me it would have taken a while to realize what the issue was as I know I had tickets and can see the room reservation. Whew.

I specifically asked if they were linked to my MB and she said no you always have to show ID to activate an AP. I always went to Guest Services to buy TIW. I'm guessing if it is a straight up renewal, without lapses, than the MB would be working and only new AP's have to get activated?
