I'm staying at CBR and would like to go to Goodings after I check in. I won't have a car. Is it cheaper for me to go to DTD and get a cab from there to Goodings and do the same coming back? Can I walk to Goodings from DTD? I'm taking Mears from the airport so I need to get to the store after I check in. I know I would get a "grocery stop" if I took a towncar but that kind of throws my budget off and since I'm going solo I can't justify the cost of the towncar. Any replies or suggestions would be appreciated. ;)

You could walk from DTD to Goodings--probably 15 or so minutes. I wouldn't want to walk back with a load of stuff--maybe take the taxi back to your hotel.

We used a taxi to/from Old Key West/Goodings. It was $8 EACH way. Plus, Goodings is extremely expensive. We have ditched them and always go to Publix.

You could walk from DTD to Goodings. I don't know that I would want to walk back to DTD with all the groceries. Some of their items are a little more expensive but they still have good prices. Love their deli.

Thanks for the replies, but no one told me HOW to get to Goodings? When I'm at DTD, where do I start walking from? Thanks for any assistance! Have a Disney day;)

At the end of the marketplace by the DI, you'll see the Hilton and the Wyndham. Walk down the road between them all the way to the end, then cross the street into the plaza with Goodings in it.

Personally I think it's more than a 15 minute walk, and those drivers in the area are nuts. Like the other posters have said, you wo'nt want to walk back to DTD with your groceries.

Have you thought about taking a car service from theairport to WDW and getting a grocery stop even if you have to pay an extra $5, then taking Mears back?

In all honesty, depending on what you are planning on getting, it sounds like you're likely to spend more money getting your groceries than you would just buying some items in the shops at WDW. The Trading Post at FW has a good selection, as does the Screen Door Genreal Store at the BW. You could also ship a box to your resort in advance.

Thanks Anne, I think you are right it might just not be worth my time to go through the hassle for a couple of items since I'm going solo. I contemplated on the towncar but for myself I could think of better things I could do with the $75 its going to cost. I got an independent towncar last year, Tony and he gave me his card, he only charged me $20 to go to the airport from HRH. I am planning on getting him to take me to the airport. I think I'll forget the groceries this trip, you're right Anne, it may be more costly to get the groceries on this trip. Thanks again!;)

I would be REALLY CAREFUL walking to and from Goodings by yourself. In July of 2000 my mum and I started walking from Goodings back down to the hotel plaza. Suddenly a strange guy came out from behind a swampy area near the entrance to the plaza walkway...(It was in the high 90s-why he was in there I don't know?)I had a terrible gut feeling. He was all dirty and looked really strange. I immediately stopped walking and let the guy pass. I pretended to tie my shoe. I had a feeling he would follow us. There was no one else around walking the paths up the hotel plaza. He walked up further and then parked himself on a bench. Both of us had that terrible gut feeling like we were going to be mugged. Stupid us looking totally like tourists with our bags of groceries and mini styrofoam cooler. Anyhow we turned back to Goodings and got a cab. Don't get me wrong I live in a big city and I'm used to homeless people and I think I have some street smarts but I really had a feeling this person was up to something.
Grab a cab to and from Goodings and STAY SAFE...especially if you are alone.

Thanks for the heads up Epcotfan, I don't intend to walk that way by myself! We do sometimes tend to think of WDW as a perfect spot but its not! I'll either get my groceries at CBR or take the cab from DTD to and fro. Thanks again. Sometimes we need a reality check!

No problem :) I can't believe the overwhelming bad feeling I got. I've stayed at WDW by myself as well and that's the one and only time I've ever been afraid at Disney. On a side note I've read the store at Fort Wilderness has more in the way of groceries...Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

We stayed at CBR and the groceries they had where pretty good. I bought bread, milk, cookies, baby food at CBR. I've been to Goodings three times and I like it. We buy the essentials, bread, milk, jam, cereal, fruit etc.,. yes it can be pricy, but it's replacing a Disney meal which can be very $$$$$$.

Might I suggest you get a bus from CBR to DTD then cab it to Goodings ~ it's about 5-10 minutes depending on the lights. We were there in April and there was a lot of construction in the area. Then treat yourself to a full cab ride back to CBR, about 10-15 minutes ~ again, depending on the lights and traffic.

GOOD SHOPPINGS! S
