Faster: Fastpass or Single Rider Line?

I find that I will go through the line faster with a Fast Pass, however, that usually requires coming back later in the day. I will usually opt to just jump in the single rider line (especially at Test Track, when the fast pass return time can be hours later) if I'm by myself.

Interesting question. I rode TT as a single rider but because I had a FP, I automatically went into the FP line. It was very busy Easter/Spring Wk., and lots of "clever" groups of people who wanted to ride TT but didn't want to wait in the huge stand-by lines, went into the single-rider line.

The single-ride line moved WAY faster than I did!!! The CM kept saving over and over again to the single-riders that they would "definitely be separated" -- he was doing it on purpose -- and the looks on many many in that line showed that they thought they might not have been separated.

I'm more of a DLer than a WDWer, but we have single rider lines there too. I never, ever FP a ride with a singles line if I'm by myself or don't care about splitting up. I save my FPs for the rides w/o single rider lines. The singles line will be faster just by virtue of not having to wait for your FP window to come around, plus then you can FP something else.

Walt Disney World would greatly benefit from adding single riders lines to several rides, for instance.
Space Mountain
Tower of Terror
Jungle Cruise
Splash Mountain
Dinosaur
Kali River Rapids
IF you notice you will see these rides too frequently pulling away with empty seats while there are willing riders sweating it out in long lines.
You can see the wisdom in the single rider lines being utilized in attractions such as Test Track and Mission Space.
Sometimes I just wonder if any of these Disney people have been to a ski resort and watched how well the single rider line works on the chairlifts??? :moped:

I have found the single rider line to be VERY SLOW at Mission Space. I swear one time it would have been faster to be in the regular line.

Everywhere else, though, I think the single rider line is as good as or better than Fast Pass.
