Hi all,

I’m planning to go to WDW in 2 years or so. I need a hotel either on property or off property that have many (or best option) to go back to the hotel no matter where I’m in the parks anytime I need it. I have chronic fatigue and when I crash and need to get a nap quickly before a become « drunk » kind of! Also because every thing need to be at slower pace, instead of 5 days vacations and rushing all day long we would preferred a 10 days vacations ans take our time, so I won’t be burn out! No resort need to be excluded , even the deluxe one, even if it’s pricey, we might choose our date accordingly to the best rate so we could get the best location hotel. Thank you for your help and tips !

How quickly? Taking any type of WDW transportation can take quite a while if you have to wait for it to pick you up? You can walk from the Magic Kingdom to the Contemporary in about 10 minutes once you leave the park. The MK resorts all have Monorail access and the Polynesian and Grand Floridian have boats as well. Not sure about the Contemporary. Wilderness lodge has boats and buses.

Hollywood Studios is about a 15-20 minute walk to the Epcot resorts. If you can take a boat it's quicker. In this area a walk to the International Gateway at Epcot is about 10 minutes.

I highly suggest you look up WDW in google maps and take a look.

In general if you have to wait for a bus it make take 30-60 minutes to get back to a resort. It depends on which park you are at, at the time you have to leave.

Thy might come up with anything in the next two years.

But right now I would go with cabs, depending on the park and resort.

A big part of the distance is getting felmnwhetever you are to where transportation is. If you’re at the back of AK when it hits, just getting to the front of the park and out of it to get a bus or cab is going to be difficult if you've already hit a wall.

At MK once you’ve exited the park you’ve got a walk up a ramp to get to and wait for a monorail, or a walk down to the buses. The quickest is to the ferry, but the ferry takes you to the parking lot aka TTC. That gives you access to cabs etc. Or once you exit MK you can walk to contemporary and grab a cab from there.

Lots of walking and time if you’re already at your exhaustion point.

So I would start coming up with extra ideas to help. You say “we”, so maybe renting a just-in-case wheelchair could be an option to conserve your strength to get to transportation.

There is no such place. All of them are far from at least 1 park.
You can be close to HS and Epcot from some resorts but then you have a bit of a trek to other parks or you can be close to AK and then have a trek to other parks. Close to MK is then far to other parks. You have to trade.
Your situation is probably going to require you to drive to the parks because the buses will be too unpredictable. And no resort has can access all parks without using a bus at some point
I would think you'd do well to have an ECV too. Even if you don't use it the entire time, have one available and at the park. Ride it in to the park that day, position it central to the center of the park and then walk while you can and return to it when you need it. Don't rely on renting one in the park for the day as you can't take them out

Different resorts may be closer to one park but further from another park. There isn't any 1 resort "close" to all parks. And there isn't really "transportation" options within the parks, so you could easily be a 15+ min. walk to the front gates and a little more to meet transportation (a lot more if you need to get to the TTC from MK). Would you consider renting a wheelchair or ECV to have with you? It would help alleviate fatigue by allowing you some rest time, which might prevent some need to "get out quickly." You can always park the ECV or wheelchair and do some walking, no need to sit all day.

I'd recommend using Minnie Vans if possible for returning to your resort. They have the added benefit at MK of pick-up at the bus area, and I believe at many of the larger resorts it can take you directly to your building instead of a bus stop.

Enjoy your vacation!

there are resorts close to some parks but there are NO RESORTS close to ALL PARKS...

There's no real fast way to get out of of the parks (unless you're using an ECV and even then, that won't be lightning fast)

Animal Kingdom is far from everywhere except for Animal Kingdom Lodge so keep that in mind.

If you want more modes of transportation, I would do either the Epcot resorts (Beach Club, Yacht Club, Boardwalk) or Magic Kingdom resorts (contemporary, grand floridian or polynesian). All of those will cost a pretty penny though (at least in my income bracket). But the hotels aren't like right outside, they will involve a short walk or a boat ride/monorail ride. Like others have said, close to 1 park is far from others.

Hi rwdavis2,

I usually have a 3-4 hours energy level available on a good day before crashing. I do have my signs so if a few signs start to appears I have 30 to 45 mins max before I’m getting all Goofy .

Which park(s) do you plan to spend most of your time in?

If it's MK, I'd go with the Contemporary, which will put you within easy walking distance of MK. There's a monorail station in the resort, which will get you over to TTC to catch the monorail to Epcot. The Poly is also an option; there's monorail access for MK and the TTC for Epcot. Taxis/Uber would be your best choice for getting to and from Disney Springs, DHS and AK.

If you're going to be focusing on Epcot and/or DHS, go with the Boardwalk or Beach Club. Both have walking paths and boat service to Epcot and DHS. Again, taxis/Uber for MK, Disney Springs, and AK.

If you're spending most of your time in AK, it's the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Villas, with taxis/Uber for everything else.

Yeah, I agree. There is really no such thing. Even if you stay at a monorail resort, you may have to wait for a monorail. Then, if you want to monorail from one of those resorts to Epcot, you have to change trains at the TTC. (Which involves a walk up/down the ramps.)

If 3-4 hours is your max, even with a scooter, you may want to rethink WDW. Maybe DL would be better as it is much smaller.

Kimberie,

I really want to go back at WDW since I was 9 years old last time I went. I will consider a wheelchair or a scooters . I know it’s sound ridiculous to go to Disney with my situation but that why we planning on a 10days trip rather then squized it in a 4 or 5 days. But I will let my option open. Thanks

It may be tough to reliably be back to your resort from each park within 30-45 minutes of when you feel the need to leave. Even if you drive or take a Minnie Van, you need to get to the park exit (which in itself can take awhile, especially on crowded days), walk/ECV to your car (or the tram stop, depending upon the park) or the MV pick up, wait for the tram/Minnie Van, wade through possible traffic along the roads, and actually endure the drive-no matter where you stay, you’ll be at least ~15 minutes ride or so from one park or another. And if you don’t stay at an MK resort, the transportation to and from MK can be even more complicated. Once you’ve reached your resort, the walk to your room could be another 10 minutes, depending upon which resort and how well you’re able to get around.

I thought of suggesting a split stay so you can be closer to certain parks on certain days, but that has the possibility of leaving you “homeless” for several hours in the middle of the day, which seems to be not workable given the constraints you described.

@jerseyjersey made a good point about crowded days. I'm thinking you should try to plan your trip within a timeframe when the crowds are not at their highest, so don't plan to go during major holidays/events.

Carine, it doesn't sound ridiculous to go to Disney with your situation. Now you know there isn't a hotel either on property or off property that will meet your needs and you have some good advice. It's a great question. Stay at a Deluxe resort and use the Minnie Vans

When this happens, how long do you need to rest? Each park has a first aid area with cots that you could rest on for a while, check over on the disabilities board they may have helpful ideas to make this work for you.

I would pick a resort closest to the park you plan to spend the most time at and plan to head back before you get signs of hitting your limit. Take advantage of the Minnie Van service so you are not expending energy getting to and from the parks, especially at the Magic Kingdom where they can get you to where the buses leave you off.

I agree! I don't think it sounds ridiculous either. I think with an ECV you can totally make it work. Just don't be afraid/embarrassed to use an ECV.
Pick the resort that appeals to you the most and have a fabulous trip.

I think you should do a split stay. For your Magic Kingdom days stay at one of those resorts. For Epcot and Hollywood Studios days stay at an Epcot resort. I find walking from those is much faster than taking the boats. Animal Kingdom isn't really close for any of the hotels. For Animal Kingdom Lodge you'll have to rely on the bus and it could be a while or super quick, it'll be unpredictable. I wouldn't rely on bus transportation, it can be very slow at times. I think your best bet would be the minnie van, or an uber (which will be a lot cheaper usually)

Except if you are using an ECV it may not be viable. Some may or may not be able to take one.

Thank you HappyDznyCamper,

It may vary, usually a 45 to 60 mins nap I’m good too go! Is the disabilities board is on this site ?
