Hi,

I am planning a trip for later in the year, and I planned to stay on-site. I thought we would be able to reserve FP+ in advance of our trip. However, I now see we need to link our tickets to our on-site reservations to do that. We will be using old non-expiring tickets on this trip. Can they be linked? Or more specifically, will we be able to make FP+ reservations in advance as on-site guests with old tickets?

We always got a ton FP per day, so only having 3 FPs already seems limiting to me. Thanks for helping me know what I am doing with the new system.

3- Or more specifically, will we be able to make FP+ reservations in advance as on-site guests with old tickets?

1- Correct.
2 & 3- We need a better description of the tickets than "old."

If they are Magic Your Way tickets, then you can link them and make FP+ reservations.

I couldn't link mine as there is no bar code on them and no number which could be entered onto MDE.

I have the same situation. So can someone clarify - if I cant link my tickets to MDE yet because they have no bar code, etc, can I get Fastpasses? I am eligible for fast passes for my trip in a few days so I want to be prepared.

1- Not in advance.

2- But, when you arrive, take your old tickets to any Guest Relations outside the parks or at DTD, and they will exchange
your old tickets for new plastic RFID tickets which will work at the park gates and for getting day-of FP+.

(BTW, are you staying at a WDW resort?)

1- Not in advance.

2- But, when you arrive

Is there any way around this, to get my tickets linked? I thought I read about people mailing in copies of the tickets along with their ids.

Half of my family have tickets that could be linked and the other half couldnt. If I try to get fast passes for the half that are eligible I assume there is no way we will get the same times for the other half once we get to the parks. But I hate to miss out on getting ideal FP times, etc by doing it in advance. Ugh.

1- You can call WDW Ticketing at
(407) 566-4985 (option 5.)

Whether you will be able to find someone who is willing to try to
do what they deem necessary is a matter of luck-of-the-draw, I'm afraid.

If it really matters, and the phone call is a bust, you could just buy new tickets for this trip and save the old ones for a future trip.
(Take the old fix with you this trip and upgrade them to RFID tickets
for future use with DME.)

2- Just another problem that comes along with this "new system."

When I went to link old tickets, I had varying success.

The system recognized most of my 2007 tickets. It did not take the 2002 & 2005 tickets. While most of these are only water parks, I know some have park days on them. It also wouldn't work with any of my 2011 tickets, of course, the bar code # on those is so tiny I may be mistyping. The weirdest one it wouldn't take is a ticket on a card, where I have 2 from the same trip it takes with no problem. I know I am typing it correctly.

I haven't tried scanning yet as my phone isn't that smart. If unsucessful with that with a different phone, I will take the stack of old tickets when we go and get them all converted to tickets we can link in the future.

A strange follow-up question, when I entered the ticket info the tickets were recognized as 10 day tickets. I know there are not that any days on them. Since the system doesn't seem to know how many days are left on the tickets, will I be able to make FP+ reservations for the whole trip (less than 10 days) even though the ticket I link doesn"t have that many days. I know the readers at the park will know how many days remain on the tickets, and I do have tickets once I have access to the old ones. So, this question is truly only about booking FP+ with old tickets.

Thanks

You can try and see.

If you are actually going to need additional ticket "days" to complete your upcoming trip,
it might make more sense to buy a new ticket (from a discounter) with the right number of days
and link that ticket to make legitimate FP+ reservations for this trip.
And, just keep saving the old tickets' days for use on a shorter trip.

(You will be able to use the old tickets Water Parks & More assets during this trip
if you are careful to change the "ticket priority" so that you are using the correct ticket
just before you enter a Water Park (etc.) vs entering a park.)

You can book FPs with old ticket, for however many days MDE recognizes as available on your tickets, as long as you have a resort stay, and starting from the day of arrival.

- link your tix (which you've done)
- wait a day or two and check your account again (from a computer, not the app).
- At first it will just say 10-day ticket (if that's what you started with).
- Eventually it will add "# entitlements remaining". This # may, or may not, be correct.
- if there are no park days remaining at all, it (probably) won't show you any entitlement, and you won't be able to select FPs in advance with those tickets.

I have done this with a ticket that I knew had 1 park day and 7 fun visits remaining. MDE tells me it has 7 entitlements left. I was able to reserve 7 days' worth of FPs. Others have reported that MDE is recognizing park days but not fun visits (but they were able to use the MBs to enter the waterparks and DQ).

Thanks. Unfortunately for FP+ purposes/fortunately for my wallet, I don't need to buy any additional days for anyone this trip. I just have to figure out which tickets to link to get the right combination of days.

Thanks for the great info. I have a bunch of old tickets for different family members, so I didn't link them yet since not everyone will be on this trip. I wanted to see if I could link; I just hit cancel when it asked if I wanted to link.

I don't want to link more tickets than I need for the trip, so I may email Disney to find out exactly how many park days & fun visits each ticket has. I think I know, but I want to make sure my info is correct. Plus, we may end up changing to a package for this trip.

Goodness things are complicated.

So so complicated. As a long time DVC member, I have a couple hundred Disney day admissions and water parks & more on paper tickets (some partially used, some unused as I bought whenever we had extra cash to stockpile for future trips - all non-expiring!)

I am taking the lot with me when we go in April and going to see what Guest Services can do. I went ahead an linked a few tix so I could get the FP+ times, but it is a huge mess and makes what was already complicated even more so (family of 10!) And then we all had hopper and non hopper tix based on our plan for the day...it is crazy.... I expect it will take Guest Services a while to help me sort this out!
