Taking a last second trip to DL 8/18-8/21 with DW & DK's. The hotel deal at the DL resort includes "fast passes". Any tips to using these fast passes? I'm not sure if there are any differences between these and fast passes you get in the park.

Also should we use these on Ariel or Star Tours? It's our first visit back to DL since these rides have been opened.

Any tips would be appreciated!

The ones I received at both the GVC and the DLH (I did a split stay) had no time printed on them and you could use them on any ride that used the FP system. The were like the proverbial golden ticket and were awesome to have.

P.S. Don't use them on The Little Mermaid ride and the most I waited was 5 to 7 minutes to board that. Use them on Star Tours and that ride is so popular that it even had a 30 minute FP return wait a few nights ago. I rode it 5 times over the past week and got to see a few variations of the ride. It was quite awesome.

Just to add, LM only has a line immediatly in the morning, but has a short wait the rest of the day. Star Tours will have a long wait very soon after the park opens so it's great to use the FPs on it, but be careful because later in the day the FP return line will be 20-30 minutes, so you might want to ride it early in the day.

Great! Thanks for the info on the fast passes and the tips on Star Tours and Ariel.

With the hotel FPs, you get one card per person - each card is good for two FPs. You need to put it in the FP machine to get your FP. There are two great things about these passes - one is that the FP return time will be immediate - not whatever the FP return time is for later in the day. So you can get your FP and walk right on. Second, it has no impact on your other FPs, so you can still go ahead and get more FPs using your regular park tickets without having to wait. Third, you can get both your FPs from that pass right away - there is no wait time to get your 2nd FP.

This is a tremendous help in using FPs to avoid crowds - it worked great for us. ST would be a great use of them, but remember that if there are no FPs available, you cannot get one with your hotel pass - so make sure you get them before they run out!

As PPs have said, Little Mermaid hardly ever has a long line and would be a waste of good FPs. We used ours on rides that we wanted to go on right that minute but had a long line (and we hadn't had a chance to get an FP earlier in the day), like Space Mountain, Goofy's Sky School and GRR. (With the hotel passes, we were also able to talk our way into the GRR FP line before the FP machines had switched over from WOC, so we actually ended up with three uses each!)

Have a great trip! :)
