Fast Passes // Tier changes when SWGE opens

My trip is not until January but we have begun booking our restaurant reservations based on fast passes we are planning to get.

We hadn't really planned on SWGE being a huge deal for us, we were going to visit if crowds allowed but it wasn't a big deal if we didn't get to see it. I was reading a couple sites that are now mentioning that the entire fastpass tier system is changing on SWGE opening day putting all of the old rides at HS in Tier 1 with the exception of Star Tours which will then be the only ride in tier two aside from shows.

I was over here wishful thinking that the new Star Wars rides would be getting fast passes by the time we go but now I'm over here thinking well crap trying to just book any rides in general. We have gone to some of the shows but generally we don't sit in the shows that much just as my kids get antsy pretty quick.

Does anyone know if this is officially going to happen and if so do you all think it will last until Jan 2020?

As of right now SWGE will have no Fastpasses and we don't know when they will be starting them. They will get them eventually though.

As for the current tiers (post 8/29) they are here to stay for the future. Its possible something could be moved back to tier two once the SWGE rides are added but we just don't know when that will happen.

Oh I know as of now no FP for SWGE. So is it true where the tiers may be changing to include in tier one all current rides (no SWGE) except star tours? Gah, I'll be over here hoping it changes back before we go to book our fastpasses for the trip haha!

Definitely true. Anyone booking 8/29 and after has had to book this way.

Okay thank you! We are going to have to make some decisions then! For us the Toy Story rides are much more important but I wonder if maybe it would be more beneficial to just park hop somewhere else once we use our 1 fast pass

I don’t understand the reasoning for this? What am I missing? Seems like they’d try to spread people out a bit? So you get one good ride and then everyone will flood SWGE

So the plan is use the first three as fast as possible and then you can keep getting more tier 1s one at a time?

My assumption for why was to encourage people into the shows. By forcing people to use all three passes before they can book another means you pretty much have to go to one of the shows (which they're great, not saying otherwise) but more people in shows means that some of the crowd will be dispersed that way making other areas more manageable.

I hope for my situation it changes or we are likely reconsidering which parks we are going to on which days to plan for our trip My kids are all younger so it makes it hard to not have fast passes scheduled for what we want so we can plan for naps and such

Either way we will have a blast! Just a matter of what we'll be doing to plan our day
