Fast Passes for MK or EP on a hop day?

On Easter Sunday, we are planning to rope drop MK, then leave about 11 to head to Boardwalk for a noon Bon Voyage Breakfast. After, we plan to walk to the international gateway and spend the rest of the day in Epcot.

Would you book your advance FPs in MK at 9, 10, and 11 to stay on a tight schedule? Or at EP in the afternoon to save on time later? I can't decide. I'm leaning towards the first option and then hoping to snag 4+ FPs at Epcot as able.

SDMT is not a must this first day.

Thanks so much.

I would guess it depends a bit on what your Epcot priorities are. Do you want to fit in one of the Epcot tier 1s that day--particularly FEA? If so booking Epcot probably makes more sense, from what I've seen with availability.

Keep in the back of your mind that there is a good possibility that opening at MK on Easter Sunday will eventually be moved up to 8 AM. We plan to be there that day too.

We usually hop and book FPs for the second park. On Easter this year I plan to make FPs at DHS around a dinner reservation and possibly staying for one of the night shows.

As others have said, if you want to do one of the tier 1 attractions at Epcot, I would recommend making FPs there. You should be able to do several things at MK before 11 without FPs, especially if the park opens at 8.

Which means early EMH will probably start at 7 a.m.

I'm with all the others in saying FP+ for EP. It's Easter Sunday. There will not be availability for Tier 1 FP as 4th, 5th, .... So if one of the Tier 1 rides is a must do, you want a FP for that. Now, you COULD make your other EP FP+ for early and let them expire so, in the rare chance there are some Tier 1 available, you would have that option.

If we are attempting any Tier 1/super popular rides at a second park in the afternoon, I always book FPs for that second park. I would only get them for the first park if the second half of the day was to sight see/ride less popular rides.

Thanks all, we are hoping for the change to an 8am open at MK that day. This would be 1 of 2 days at Epcot on day 61, and I was aiming for FEA on day 65. But, I wasn't sure if going to MK that morning without FPs would be a waste of time. If you think even on Easter we'll be good going to MK at RD, I think using them in the afternoon at EP definitely works better.

Thank you. :)

As of now, there are no EMH scheduled for Easter Sunday or for the following week, except for the usual Friday.

In many recent years, including last year, the MK opened at 8 AM every day of Easter week and had 7 AM EMH every day through at least Thursday. This year is following the pattern of two years ago when the schedule showed 9 AM openings every day until a month or so before when the 9 AM was changed to 8 AM, but no special AM EMH.

I'm expecting, or at least hoping for, the change to 8 AM openings, but not counting on more AM EMH.

With an 8 AM opening, going to MK without FPs would definitely not be a waste of time. From our experience, Easter Sunday morning at MK is less busy than some of the days early in the week after Easter that are extremely crowded. It may be that Sunday is something of a transition day with a lot of people leaving the resort and others arriving. I also think that there are people who go to church services or participate in other family events that day, at least in the morning.

What are the rides you want to do at each park. Normally, if you were only in a park until 11am I'd say save FP for second part. Any other park but Epcot as a 2nd it's a no brainer. But at Epcot, if you're there the whole day, the Tier 1s are really the only that will be hard to get and you'd only be able to get one in advance anyway. If your party size isn't too large, and you want to get on a bunch of rides at MK, I'd actually do the first. Get FP at 9/10/11 at MK. If it's 8am opening, do standby first 90 minutes then ride your 9 and 10 somewhat back to back. Do whatever until 11 and start searching for your Epcot FP right when you scan. I think you won't have much issue if you're in Epcot the whole day getting FP for most things. It always a risk but I just think other than the three Tier 1 rides at Epcot, the rest will be easy to get during the day.

So I'm likely to be in the minority here - but sketch out what you're hoping to do at each taking into account the Epcot tiers and see where you'll get more bang for your buck (and also depends on how much time you're planning on each park the rest of the trip).
