Is it possible for someone to take a group's tickets to a fast pass machine to secure them for a later time, while the rest of the group is in line and going on another attraction? In other words, do you need your own ticket if you are using the standby line?

What you are asking is a favourite strategy of most larger groups.

You do not need you ticket/pass for the standby line.

Most large groups will designate someone to run and grab fastpasses for everyone at another attraction whilst they wait in the standby line for a different attraction.

We always send my husband to get one fastpass while we wait in line for another attraction. This works really well at park opening when it isn't too crowded. We usually get a fastpass for Space mountain and then ride Buzz first.

Also watch the times on our FP. Sometimes it is possible to hold two at once if your time for one ride isn't until later in the afternoon. This really helps with a large crowd. Also watch if your putting in a lot of tickets that they all show the same time. Most rides have an hour window but shows(like Little Mermaid)don't. If they print out different times see the CM and they can give you another one.

have a great trip!!
