Fast pass times being enforced?

I read on another thread that FP times are being enforced. Is this really the case? I haven't been in over a year and we've always been able to use them later than the window.

Is this really the case? We're going in 3 weeks so I'm curious if I need to change my touring strategy.

Thx!

I'm wondering how it's a bummer. The FP system was designed to more or less evenly distribute people to high demand rides. When they weren't being enforced, there were reports that FP lines were shorter during the day as people hoarded them and got really long near closing time.

As far as I'm concerned, enforcement is operating the system the way it was designed to run.

I agree. we seemed to be able to do more this trip with the enforcement then ever before.. we go same time each year and this trip was so much more smoother.. it made us stay within the area of the ride which means we did more rather than walking to other side of park to get another ride done and missing everything in between...

Yeah I thought the enforcement was going to put a huge cramp in my touring plan but it all ended up okay. As the previous poster said we weren't always criss-crossing the park.

Just finished a trip and FP enforcement stinks. Was able to do more before.

I think I was able to cycle the park faster this last trip as well. Many of my fast pass return times were less time than standby

Yea, I never did it later than the time. Always did it in the window. Never had any issues. That is really how it is suppose to be but they got lax on it from the start I guess, I dunno. I never really even knew you could do later anyways. Guess I was under a rock somewhere.

Sounds like DL is getting RFID bracelets soon just like WDW...

"Soon" is an interesting word. Based on past "threats" of changes that have yet to be implemented, I'm not sure it's all that "soon". I think they'll let WDW use the system for at least a couple of years to gain information and work out kinks if they do plan to switch over.

I tend to think they migrated the DLR website and online maps recently to the new, MDE-/RFID-friendly layouts that WDW now uses because the change is coming sooner than we might want/expect.

Or because they redesigned their website and collateral materials and it makes sense to do so for both parks at the same time. Who knows?:confused3 I'm not saying you're wrong, just that there's been no testing of it here, the attempt to make dining similar to dining at WDW was postponed, and the switch to strict FP enforcement lagged behind that of WDW by quite a while. I'm not saying it's not coming, was just questioning that poster's definition of "soon". This year? Next year? 3 years from now?

They turned someone away for being late for splash when I was there a few weeks ago. Crowds were awful so I don't know if that was a factor. I heard to make the + eventually worse they had to start enforcing it.

FP times were enforced when we were at DL in March 2013. We were 15 minutes late to Soaring as my DH and son got held up at Tower of Terror. The cast member was so rude, my 8-year-old daughter started crying. I personally feel that cast members should not be in the position where enforcement of rules makes them less than friendly (understatement). I shared this with the cast member.

While I certainly don't think it's right to make someone cry because they missed their return time, I have to say that, at least in my experience working in the service industry, customers are rarely satisfied when they are told news they don't want to hear. If the CM said, "I'm terribly sorry but you're 15 minutes late so unfortunately I can't let you ride", do you think you'd have happily walked away, or would you still be upset that you didn't get to ride? Were you expecting to be cut some slack or would you have simply been satisfied with a more polite "no" response? If you just wanted the CM to be more polite, then that is certainly something you were entitled to and I'm sorry you didn't get that.

Gosh that sucks, but rules are rules and we need to be taught to understand and respect that at some age.

Rudeness is never good, but many people take someone telling them "no" as rudeness. I deal with this all day in my line of work.

CM probably should have re issues a new FP at that moment for a later time.

Just wondering , how did TT affect Soarin? Park hopping??

I am all for FP enforcement it was getting crazy with the constants peak times and people returning with aged FP.

15 minutes is pushing it, but I think a nicer CM might have let you pass. I was a little over 5 minutes late for Splash Mountain because I was watching the Soundsational parade, and the CM didn't care. She looked at our FP time, looked at her watch, and just let us in.

TOT and Soarin' are both in DCA. The wait-time for TOT was probably just longer than they expected.

What did she/he say to you and what was your response? I wasn't there and we all know CMs are human, so won't start to assume how it was handled, but late is late. And 15 minutes late is fairly late. It's not the CMs fault your DH & DS got held up on another ride. And by held up do mean TOT shut down while they were on it and they had to evacuate them all or that your DH misjudged the amount of time it would take to do both rides?

But why would you put the CM in that situation? With all respect, your group was late. Your FP had lapsed. It is good for an entire hour and you showed up 15 minutes later asking for the permission to use it. Your actions placed the CM in the unfortunate position of having to enforce a rule that upset your family.

Unless they were late due to malfunction at ToT, why should the CM have issues them a new FP? They missed their "reservation." That is not the CM's fault nor Disney's. if FPs were available, sure, the CM could suggest pulling new ones, but why is it the CMs responsibility to replace the FPs that guests didnt adhere to in the first place?

Yes, things happen and it's Disney, but does that mean that no one has to be accountable anymore?
