Hi all,

We are heading to Disney for the Epcot Food and Wine Festival for 4 days three nights. The Food and Wine Fest is the driving force but we haven't been in awhile and still want to spend time in the parks. My dilemma is this: We really want to go on the 7 Dwarfs Ride but the only time we were able to get a Fast Pass + for it was in the evening on our third day. We plan to spend the first morning we are there at MK and have our Fast Pass + scheduled for attractions in MK that day.

My Question is this. Our schedule is loose because we aren't sure how much time will spend at the Food and Wine Fest. I think we will be heading to Hollywood Studios the morning we have the FP+ for the 7 Dwarfs ride. Does having a scheduled FP+ for the 7 Dwarfs ride preclude us from getting day of FP+ for attractions in a different park even if we are at that park? My thought process is to be at HS for rope drop and head straight to the Slinky Dog coaster and ride that and then Toy Story Mania. We are going on a low crowd day according to touring plans. Then I would like to get a FP+ to Slinky Dog to ride it again later in the day. My concern is that I read you can't get additional Fast Passes until you use the ones you booked in advance. That would basically limit us to just the FP for 7 Dwarfs because of its time. I don't want to give up that FP but I also don't want to be limited to just that FP for the day.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

One other note is that while we are going to MK on our first day it is an morning EMH day and we probably won't make rope drop. will most likely arrive around 9:30 and head to the 7 Dwarfs ride but from what I have scene the line for that builds really fast.

Yes. You cannot get FPs day-of until you use all of your prescheduled ones. You may find the FP FAQ helpful.

Use your FPs at Hollywood Studios on that day, hop to MK, and get in line for Mine Train 5 minutes before the park closes.

Another vote for later in the evening. We’ve ridden 7D several times using this strategy, and the longest wait we’ve ever had was 20 minutes during opening week in 2014.

Right after the fireworks show is another good time. We’ve found ten minute waits more than a few times.

You might be able to get a FP for 7DMT for your first MK morning if you spend some time searching, either the night before or that morning.

It's not unheard of to find a 7DMT FPP even at the 30 day mark. Keep checking for one on the day you're in MK. If you get something, you can cancel the HS day one and just focus on the two parks you have planned.

I would plan to make rope drop and go right to 7DMT. If you wait til 9:30 you'll be waiting in a ridiculous line.

Also, pretty unlikely that you'll score a 4th fp for SDD. That's the hottest ticket in town right now. It's possible, but I wouldn't count on it.

We went in January and we rope dropped it and the line got long but after that initial surge there is a lull where the line gets short again before settling at 60 minutes for the duration of the day.

PP are right that your chances of scoring a same-day FP for SDD are very, very slim. Is that the only ride you're really interested in for HS? Would you want FP+ there, even if you couldn't get SDD?

If you don't make RD at MK (and by that, I mean be there before RD so you are at the head of the RD pack), you probably won't be able to ride 7DMT without a significant wait. That line builds super fast, and doesn't really go down until fireworks or just before park closing. If it's an EMH morning, and you're not arriving until half an hour after regular park opening, the line will already be huge.

Choices:
Keep looking for 7DMT FP for the day you're going to start in MK. Keep refreshing and checking. If you score one, you can cancel the other and book FP+ for HS.

OR

Get to MK in time to RD the EMH. Yes, it means getting up earlier, but the waits will be significantly shorter.

OR

Hold onto the 7DMT FP, and just do standby in HS. You probably won't get FP+ for SDD, even if you give up 7DMT now because I think pretty much all of the SDD availability is gone for Food and Wine from 60+ day bookings. If it's a low crowd day, the standby waits shouldn't be that bad.

OR

Drop your 7DMT and get FP for HS. You probably won't get SDD (there's still a slim chance you could if you hit it right), but you'll have no trouble getting ToT or RnR or TSM as FP+. Then you can look for same-day 7DMT or ride 7DMT standby at the end of the night or during fireworks. FP+ come up much more often for 7DMT than SDD.

Sorry not to have a perfect answer for you. Have fun at food and wine, though!

Not sure if this was suggested, but if the timing works and budget is not an issue, you may want to consider Early Morning Magic - have breakfast and ride a few rides at MK then head to the other park.
