Fast Pass question I've never asked...

I have literally never been turned away from the fast pass line when my hour is up. My experience has been that fast passes are always good from the first time on the pass to the end of the day. Is this always the case, or do they enforce the "end time" more strongly during busy seasons?

My experience is the same as yours. Even over Christmas and New Year's weeks 2008, we used late FPs every day with no issue at all.

There have been reports that when an attraction opens (ie:toy story mania) that people have said they have been turned away outside their times.

Other say the 'official' WDW rule given to CM's is to allow them to be used the same park day, so long as after the return time.

I still say that they 'could' change at anytime and enforce what it says.

I'm sure the 'official' rule is more then likely what would happen in 99.99999999% of the cases though.

I have never had a problem using a fastpass, even well after the return time, and have never heard of a firsthand report of anyone having a problem. Personally, I think that "I heard somebody got turned away once" reports aren't worth anything. :)

You are correct, except, I've never read any reliable reports specifically about TSM.

But, yes, a couple of years ago there were a few reports about Soarin'.
Even those have since disappeared.

It is a Disney policy to accept same-day FP any time after the Return Time is reached.

My daughter works at a very busy Disney attraction and they accept them all day - she said she has never had an instance when mgmt has told them not to.

I have been told my CM's never throw out your FP's if not used in the hour, they are good for the whole day. Last year I probably gathered 9 sets in my morning venture to MK, the we went back to the room, went swimming, had dinner and went back at night and used all the FP's when the lines were long. It was great! :)

How do you acquire 9 sets of FP's in the morning given you have to wait up to 2 hours between acquiring each set??

You don't always have a 2 hour wait between FP's.
You need only wait until the Return Time of the current FP is reached to get another FP.

If you arrive early in the morning (AM EMH is better,) the Return Times can be as little as 30-50 minutes.
If you're there at a time of year with fewer guests, even the FP's obtained later in the day can have shorter waits to Return Time.

While we are on the subject, what are the odds of getting fp's in the afternoons (after 2pm)...say for thunder mtn. rr?

What about Sorin' do those fp go fast for the entire day? I am using Ride Max and for certain days, hey advise fp's. Should I count on their knowledge that I will actually be able to get a fp in the afternoon? How does that work?:confused3

The bext FP is getable when the previous one is active. If you are there very early on an uncrowded AM, you can get many FP's in a short timeframe.

On occasion you'll get a lucky bonus FP, as well. In December I got a FP for Winnie the Pooh and a bonus FP for Mickey PhilHarmagic popped out (does not count aginst you) for both wife and me. Later I got a FP for Splash Mt and a bonus FP for Buzz came out for both of us.

Totally dependent of time of year/number of guests in the park.

My estimate for "Average attendance" (non-peak)

1- 60% odds after 2pm, on many days.

2- 10% odds after noon, on many days.

As others have already posted, ya get there early. I am a rope drop girl. I hit that park early and work it! lol.. I have been lucky enough to actually grab FP's for buzz and head over to Space mountain and only have a 2 minute wait to get my next set. It all depends on what the FP queue is like to determine your next FP time. They will not make you wait more than 2 hours but if your FP return time is in 5 minutes then you can snatch up those FP's quickly early in the morning! This was during July peak summer crowds too! :goodvibes I got in at rope drop and out by 1pm. We rode lots of the "big" rides in the morning, grabbed FP's for the return and then got out of there when "the mobs" were piling in! :cool1:

I get all that BUT 9 sets acquired in the morning - even with a minimum 45 minutes between sets????

Ok, so are we assuming that one person at rope drop time, just hauls butt around the park and get as many fp's as possible and then meets up with others? Sounds interesting.

It doesn't work that way. You get your first right at 9 AM, for example, second may be available at 9:40, third at say - 10:30, another at 11:15, another at 12:00, another at 12:30 or 12:45. Of course, those times will vary - sometimes better, sometimes worse - depending on crowds and which order you pull the FPs in.

So if you're good at it, you would have 6 before leaving for a 1 PM break using my example, and you *might* get a freebie one too somewhere. You actually have to be careful that you allow enough time in the evenings to use them all, depending on park hours and what your evening plans are.

I stay with my kids, ages 14 and 13 but I MOVE fast! lol.. not running or pushing like some but a brisk walk! first thing I do is hit a FP machine, sometimes we jump right on ride depending on our route. Last July I was able to get FP's for SM,BUZZ and Stitch in the first hour! Then headed over to tomorrowland, went on IASM and then got passes for Pooh, got BONUS set of passes for Philharmagic, (hardly worth the FP but hey, it was a bonus set!) went to HM, came out, back up hill, grabbed Peter Pan's flight. Went to GTMRR, waited in line, came out, grabbed FP for splash, waited in line for ride, came out grabbed new set for TMRR, went on Pirates and Tiki Birds and then grabbed Jungle cruise and out of the parks by 1. If you move smartly, it's very easy to do in a 4 hour period. The biggest wait time I had was about 45 minutes but my real bonus time was the first 90 minutes where I had aquired the majority of them.

I would also like to add that the CM's were very impressed with my stack of FP's! lol...

Don't forget AM EMH days.
