Fast Pass phasing out?!

i assumed that this roumer was common place
Paulh

The rumor is commonplace, but you quoted my post, and my post had nothing to do with that rumor. I was under the impression that you thought I wished FP to be phased out to be replaced by resort guest priveleges. That would be stupid for me to wish for.

Let me just ask this; does anyone KNOW if FP is going the way of the dinosaur, or is this all purely speculation on our parts??

Ugh. I would be really disappointed if they got rid of it. I remember how lines used to be. Fastpass really helps make the day a lot more relaxing.

FPs are one of the announced benefits for the 2009 birthday celebrations, so I would speculate that they have been considering tweaks to the system, but that's it.

I would agree. They're not going to offer fast passes as a perk and then remove the machines...unless that's why it's a perk... For some rides, fast passes do what they're supposed to do, but others still don't cut down on ride wait time...which is still a problem.

I still pray for the day that fastpass is removed completely. I have a great idea that may work in lieu of fastpass, create great little C and D ticket rides a long with the big E tickets so they can swallow up some of the crowds while others are waiting in line for the big rides. Also create great shows that would also eat up crowds.

I love FP. They are the greatest, FP enable us to ride so many more rides in a day if it wasn't in place. I don't think people who plan their day and get to the parks early should be punished because some people want to sleep to eleven and get mad because all the FP's are gone when they get to the parks. I say live and let live but don't take something nice away from me because I'm organized. I was in Carrawinds last May and I think we rode 4 rides all day because every line was 2 hour long. I kept saying all day they could use some kind-of FP system there. We hated and won't be going back to Carrawinds anytime soon.:goodvibes

Actually, this isn't entirely true.
According to the unofficial attendence numbers, Disney peaked at the end of the 90s and fell off tremendously and only recently has hit attendance higher than the former peak.

So really, attendance hasn't been higher since pre-Fastpass, so if wait times are longer, that can't be a factor.
Fast pass and changing operating patterns and shuttered attractions, those are factors.

I'd love to see some facts to back up this claim. We recently had a discussion regarding attendance numbers and, specifically, the possibility of a 5th gate here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1944716&page=4

Overall attendance has nearly doubled since 1992. While it is quite possible there was a dropoff in attendance in the late 1990's or early 2000's, it seems it was at best temporary, and leads one to conclude that wait times are a factor.

Personally, I love my fast passes. I'd hate to see a time when 47+ million visitors a year try to enjoy attractions and their time in the park without them.

Fast passes are about to be (or have been?) stopped at two DHS shows - Lights Motors Action and Indiana Jones. So this rumor may have some truth in it?

I know they stopped giving out fast passes for all the shows like, HISTA, Indiana Jones, Lights, Motors, Actions, but are they just covering up the machines or are they removing them.

I dont have any imformation on anything (sorry) but I do have my opinions. I believe Fast passes are amazing. Have you ever been to Six Flags before!? I hate it! There is always a wait for everything! And those fastpasses never work, one thing- you have to pay for them. Worst money to spend... dont buy any. Second- you have to go to the ride you want, and they tell you when they are ready for you to come back. So you're walking along on the other side of the park- your flash pass thing... vibrates or something? (im not sure i have never bought one but i know how it works) you have about five minutes to go get in your spot in line or you lose it. So basically you might as well stand in line for an hour and a half..
I know I was taught how to use fast passes when I was like eight, so I never have any problems with them and know how to use them well. Im not exactly sure if we spend extra money during that time we have our fast passes, we try to keep our trips as cheap as possible considering all the money spent on it already. But we do go on all the attractions that dont ever have long waits. It saves us time, and we get way more done.
I also believe that if they did take away the fast passes, it would just be one of those average amusement parks (that is so hard to say- dont let it come to that disney!) and more of a rip off because then you would just be waiting in lines that whole time. All those fast pass people added to the regular stand by entrances of the major attractions, I dont like that idea very much.
