Fast Pass Only Attractions?
Has Disney come one step closer to planning one's entire visit?
It is rumored that three meet and greets became Fast Pass Only on Mother's Day. No Standbys at all!
These are tier 1 attractions.
You would think it would be Anna & Elsa but not yet. The meet and greets rumored to be kicking off this trial are:
Animal Kingdom Character Landing: Donald & Daisy
Epcots United Kingdom Pavilion: Winnie the Pooh
Disney’s Hollywood Studios The Magic of Disney Animation: Minnie Mouse

Is this testing the waters for Scheduling all rides? How would you feel if you had to schedule all rides during your visits? Are you willing to give up more than one Tier 1 fastpass so your kids can meet more than one or two characters a day?
Disney tested the waters for MagicBands and then Fastpass for Anna & Elsa. May be getting a little ahead of things but, what's next? I fear scheduled times for all rides, parades, and shows could be in the future. My feelings? Please Disney, do not continue down a road that would take away the spontaneity or surprise moments of our trips. That to me is some of the greatest magic of Disney! What do you think?

Disney had announced this on May 6th. Then on May 9th they said that they would still be available as Standby. I think they listened to the cry of the people and realized that no one would be picking these as their Tier 1 attraction or using their FP+s on them when these characters can be met elsewhere.

If you are right, it will definitely make me feel better. But we have friends who were in Disney this weekend and said that they experienced this. So that makes you wonder if they will try it under the radar. Let's hope not. I for one would not be happy with this idea of Fastpass only attractions. If anyone was in Disney this weekend and heard of or experienced this please comment. Would love to know!

I have heard this rumor before and I can definitely see this working with meet and greets. I cannot see Disney doing this with attractions tho, especially anything d, or e ticket. I just don't see how they could do it with attractions there would have to be more FP+ capacity and you would end up with large lines at the FP line. The whole point of FP is to avoid long waits and get on sooner.

I was at Disney this past weekend and did not see anything or experience anything like this. Not even at the Princess Fairytale Hall or Animal Kingdom. Minnie Mouse was stand by and FP at Hollywood Studios as well.

I think the public push-back on exclusively FP+ attraction will be so loud and negative that they'll stop making that noise soon enough.

I am here now (the day after mothers' day). We met Minnie in Hollywood Studios this morning from the standby line.

I agree that just having FP+ attractions would be an extremely unpopular decision that is going to receive a great deal of blowback. I think most people would feel as though they are already paying a lot to get into the park and should be able to utilize everything (despite the larger wait times)

Whether is works or not, probabaly not suld be interesting.

I think they are doing it try to spread crowds out. Get some people whoe have kids that want to meet said character take Tier 1 to go do that and free up more FP+ for the other Tier 1's, and have more availble for same day.

I think most of FP+ is desigined to spread the crowds out.

I wonder if this little pilot run is actually a proposed "safety valve" for tempering demand during peak times for certain rides. In other words, let's offer up a character meet & greet, for example, as a FP+ exclusive to ease demand on some of the other Tier 1 FP+ rides...

Just a thought... could be way off, but I'm sure that Disney plans to utilize FP+ for more than just tracking purposes. This could be one such method.
