What happens if I get a fast pass but don't use it later on that day because we have to leave early. Can I use it the next day?

And they are dated and color-coded so the CMs will notice if you try to give them one from a different day.

Oh, is that new? I was there a year ago and saved my FPs from the Indy ride from 2 days in a row (finally got to ride it on the 3rd day!) and they are the same color. Each ride had a different color, though.

No unfortunately you have to use them the same day as they are dated and the CM's do check the tickets

This is funny because I was just carpooling to school this morning and one of my DD's friends mentioned they used tons of fast passes that her Aunt who lives in So Cal had "saved up"....and I thought...How do ya DO that...um I think they're gonna *notice* if the FP's are a few months OLD! Plus, wouldn't that defeat the whole integrity of the system???

Wow! I just can't believe how different things are between WDW and DL on this and many other issues. What happened to the Disney magic of CMs going out of their way to do something just because it makes/keeps the guest happy??? DL seems so much more strict and by the rules... other instances I've noticed this: not allowing someone to order a 'lunch' item at dinner, charging a plating fee for splitting meals, not allowing someone to order a special order birthday cake to be delivered to a restaurant if they are not staying at a DLR hotel, not replacing lost/misplaced passes with the exception of APs, etc...

Back to FPs... we've used FPs the following day (or even 2-3 days later in our trip) countless times during WDW trips! We simply explain that we had to leave early the day we pulled them and they're always been more than happy to allow us into the FP line assuring us that it's no problem at all!

Hmm. I have read the opposite many times on the WDW boards, that they are absolute sticklers even for letting you in an hour after the FP time expired. Let alone using them the next day? :confused3

Those other things...have you noticed them in person, or just in what people say is and isn't allowed on the boards?

There have been many questions recently about ordering things to share without needing to pay the split plate, but I have seen no one with a definitive answer, or even an answer from experience. I personally didn't mind paying the split plate at Blue Bayou, b/c I wanted my own salad and the feeling that we each had the "right" to eat the bread, but I haven't seen anyone saying "they said absolutely no never ever".

Vacation Planning is who you order the cakes from, and VP is for the use of the people staying onsite. It is what it is.

As for ordering things at different times, if they have different menus, they have different menus. But there, too, I've seen questions but differing answers. Again with Blue Bayou, someone has said that they ordered the MC sandwich at dinner, others have said you can't b/c it's not on the menu. I think I've even seen someone say that they ordered the 3 cheese there (perhaps with a bit of pre-planning with Disney Dining), even though it's not on the menu at all! But still, I haven't seen anything definitive on it at all, only questions and answers on every side. :upsidedow

We generally spend 10-14 days a year at WDW and have done everything that I mentioned... used FPs a day or two later (and probably use an average of 2-3 a day after our designated times slot - NEVER been told "no!"), ordered lunch items at dinner (and even other simple items/dishes that just aren't on the menu - at any time! lol), we've never been charged a plating fee for splitting meals (the kids tend to prefer splitting adult meals rather than ordering off the kids menu), we've ordered special occasion cakes to be consumed at the Disney restaurant even though we always stay off-property, and we've even had passes replaced on more than 1 occasion when DH somehow loses one in his quest to grab FPs. I've only read about the differences at DL... and somehow these didn't seem to be random isolated cases.

If we have a FP at DL that we aren't able to use... I think I might try the next day - just to see what happens! LOL I'll let you know what happens. ;)

yeah, good idea, I am curious about it too! It can be the DLFP experiment!:)

Hmmm, I've never even thought of using them the next day. IMO that's abusing the system and shouldn't be done. There have been plenty of times we've had FP's and not used them, gone back to the room and thrown them away. If you abuse this system they will take it away. Don't compare it to "making guests happy", compare it to following the rules so the guests who don't "cheat" don't get penalized or experience delays getting on rides. And I've read plenty of times how at WDW you must use the FP's in the indicated time...at DL you just have to use them same day.

The split plate charge is new (I think) but it seems fair to me. If I want my own salad and sides that is, if not don't charge me the fee. And the menu being different at dinner/lunch. That's not out of the ordinary, many high end restaurants have 2 different menus for lunch and dinner. And you can always ask about getting different foods....you may not get it but you can ask.

Please --

The rule at Disneyland is that Fastpasses are to be used on the same day. If someone does something else, and the cast member says it is okay, then great, that is up to the cast member. However, the DIS does not promote actions that go against Disney policy.

So, please do not encourage others to do things against Disney rules.

Thanks,

mj

My bad!!:guilty: I honestly didn't and don't think it would work. And I agree that it is "cheating" the system. Didn't mean to encourage it.....

So sorry! I certainly wasn't trying to encourage anyone to "go against Disney policy" either. :sad2:

My experience at WDW (Epcot Soarin') when I returned 3 hours past the FP had expired, was that they wouldn't honor the FP.

My experience at DLR (Indy after it had been down for several hours the previous night) when i returned the next morning to ride with yesterday's tickets....was that they wouldn't honor the FP.

In both cases the CMs were very pleasant but followed the rules that they had made. (& was fine with me.)

fwiw, the ability to (with confidence) use FPs at DLR after the return time (but on the same day) is one of the many little things that make DLR a superior touring experience (over WDW) for my family.

We have also given ours away. If we just have to leave and can't do the ride we will pass on the passes.....we just go to the FP distribution for that ride and pass them on.

I believe a couple times, like when we had SM FP, the ride has gone down. I've asked the CM if we could use it the next day (close to closing) and they've said yes. So I think we've done that once or twice. I guess it still kinda messes up the FP numbers and everything, though.
