Fast Pass info

Hi to everyone, my family are cruising on the Magic Nov 10, out of N.Y. with 1 day at WDW can someone explain in the most simple terms about how the Fast Pass works, I know we get 3 VIP Fast Passes, I've read on this blog you can get more than your 3. I've also been told no just the 3 to start. So I'm confused do we just get the 3 and can't get more till we use the 3 or can you get more before we get to WDW. Help......Thanks

This is the same reply as the one I gave the the thread Shmoo recommended.

Things may be different this year, but this was the process last November. The night before PC, we got hard tickets to use at the parks. It's a one day park hopper. It was preloaded with three VIP fast passes, those fast passes could be used for any attraction including Pandora. We were able to add those tickets to our MDE, and then schedule three additional regular fast passes.

No, you don't get VIP fast passes by purchasing a 1 day hopper pass prior to the cruise. The cruise out of NYC to the Bahamas have a stop at Port Canaveral on the way back to NYC. It is an excursion stop. Part of the perks of being on that cruise is the "free" excursion to the WDW parks. DCL "gives" us a 1 day park hopper pass and buses us to the parks. Attached to the passes are 3 VIP fast passes, because we don't get the tickets until the night before, it would be impossible to get any popular FP rides.

It is quite an amazing itinerary.
