Fast Pass HS, needs an update?

I'd be ok with pay FP - but only if it becomes like MaxPass at DL. Everyone has to wait until arrival and then we start collecting. I like it because it is a level playing field, however you still have the paper option there for free as well. The 60+ day is hard for those doing a long weekend (the big rides are usually gone because your longest window is 60+2) and a last minute getaway is also hard because once again the big rides are gone.
When we were at Disneyland I may have said to my housemate (repeatedly) that I wished WDW had MaxPass instead of the FP+ system. I like how FP are still free at Disneyland and you're only paying for the convenience of being able to book them in the app. I especially liked that it was an even playing field because you can't make the FP reservations from outside of property.

Annnndddd there's no limit to how many fastpasses you can have at the same time (just not the same ride), and they can have overlapping times.

Wait, really? I thought you could still only have one at a time--is it just that I didn't try?
Yes! Even if you use the free fastpasses at the kiosk. You just can't have more of the same ride until you use it. So say you have Space mountain at 9am, you can't get another space mountain until you use it. BUT, if it's 9am, and you are allowed to choose another ride, you can, even if you haven't scanned into space mountain..which is how you can hold multiple fastpasses at a time.

Isn't there something like a time block in between times that you can make FP's with Maxpass though?

Yes. the max time you wait with maxpass is 90 minutes. If the ride times are instant return times, you wait as little as 30 minutes. With the kiosk fastpasses you wait 2 hours.

I think DL max pass you can get a new one every 2hrs or after you have used it

That's sounding familiar now that you've pointed it out--it's been two years and I've lost some details. All the more reason to prefer MaxPass.

Ouch. Planning a DL trip for 2021 and not looking forward to Maxpass. 30-90 minutes in between FP's will take some getting used to.

Don't let it scare you! It takes some getting used to, but it works very well for the DL system

The bright side I have noticed with Fastpass+ is that on days when you can't get there early, you can still have rides planned out, rather than just get stuck in long waits and not getting any at all.

Yeah it's not like you can grab fastpass for cars at any time. There normally all gone for the day in the first hour or 2

I'm just use to going from ride to ride using FP's without the waits and riding top tier rides multiple times in a row using FP's. I've got some homework to do on this trip.

By 90min wait between fastpass he means you can't get a new one for 90 plus min. This is not the actual wait time between when you can use them. You might get a fast at 9am for 1020 spacemountain then at 1030 you can grab another one and if its cars ride it might be 8pm at earliest. Then at midday you can grab another fastpass for a different ride

Yeah, that sucks lol

With the way the tiers are now, there aren't 3 worthy fastpasses to get early. I always end up fastpassing a show at park opening without using it just so I can get another ride.

At Disneyland, I usually get between 10 and 12 FP's per day. At WDW you're lucky to get 5. DL system is much better
We'll have used 5 FP's within the first 2 hours of park open. At MK 20 is not hard to do in a day. Other parks we'll be 10-15. And we're not talking just about tier 2 rides. We routinely ride FOP 3-4 times per day when we are at AK. We do this while also normally resting back at the resort between 1:00-5:00.

Yep, I booked the Little Mermaid show on both my DHS mornings. They shifted the show's opening later in the morning on the second day so it's no good to me and I dropped it--figure on that day I'll just book a second Star Tours as soon as I've ridden it once. I'll ride Star Tours 2+ times in a day, but it's really the only tier 2 at DHS I care about.
