fast pass frustration

Does anyone else feel this pick three at a time is kind of frustrating. I don't always want three or that I want to go pick something up later but I can't unless I change everything.

I just want to add one more ride but it would mean to change everything that I had planned already especially for the times that would be perfect for us.

I don't find it a problem
I can always find 3 rides to book, even if I think I will not want all 3. I may change my mind later
As long as you have 3 booked it makes it super easy to change 1 later

You can change just one fastpass at a time on the app (first three). Just pick three and go. No penalty for not using them, but you are placing yourself at a huge disadvantage by having none. Change them as you want to/can.

Since this is my first time doing fastpass like this and so far not a big fan. Now it could be that since i am new and don't fully get everything that I feel frustrated.

But I like the idea of being able to choose up to 3 if wanted or 1.

You don't have to use all three. You can let them expire at no penalty. If you really just want one, pick the one you want then just book two others with the plan to change them to what is available later.

I vastly prefer the old system. I don't like prebooking at a set time, or the fact that I am locked in to just 3.

You are not locked in to just 3. After you use those 3 you can get more
I thought I didn't prefer it till I went to DL in June and desperately wanted to ride something at a set time and had no means of doing that without standing in a very long line.
I love being able to set the times we need to be at the park by setting our FP times. I don't love that they are an hour in between. I'd like to see 30 min windows.
I also prefer NOT having to run place to place to get FP tickets.
All in all, after using both this year, FP+ works better for us. Paper FP has a very advantages but the list of their pros was smaller than the cons.

As others have said, you can change the rides and also the times individually after you book them. You don't have to change everything. Just go in to MDE or online and choose update FP. It will ask if you want to change experience or change time. Then adjust them individually to what times/rides you want. And just don't use the other FP if you really don't want them. But, you may be glad you have 3 FP set once you get there. Read mesaboy's FP thread....the first page explains it all. I wish someone would tell me how to link a thread...I'm sorry I don't know how. Search FP priorities and hopefully it will come up...

Well because I thought you pick up to three I could pick 2 and later pick one more. What I guess I'm saying its forcing me to have 3 at all times weather I use the third or not if I delete one I have to basically start over. I deleted some and thought later oh u want to add that but each time it says it changes the rest of my selections.

You are locked into just 3 in every practical sense. You don't need fastpasses in the first hour or so the park opens except for super headliners so getting them early is out. If you start your faspasses at any time after 11, you cannot get more fastpasses for any rides you actually need a fastpass on even moderate crowd days. Sure, I can get a fastpass for the teacups or figment, but the standby line is only 15 min max anyway, so it is pointless. We can no longer ride headliners more than once in a day without insane waits. We used to pull faspasses for only headliners and get 7,8,9 or more rides in a day, particularly in MK. We cannot do that now, and I definitely don't like that.

Definitely don't delete one....just change it. If you are using the app, go to FP, modify existing FP, Pick your date, change a FP selection for a new selection or time, choose the one you want to change, choose either change time or change experience depending on what you want to do, select your party, and then choose from what's available.

Yeah, hard lesson to learn but you pick 3 or you are out of luck, you can't get 3 back without starting over.

It is a case of they can't please everyone. I think they did try to make things better. For some it did, for others it didn't.

I book the 3 I want (or in the case of Epcot & DHS) the 2 I want and the 1 I am going to waste for the option closest to my desired times. Then I go into each FP and adjust the times as I need. I also add the parades/shows/fireworks I plan to see. MDE app then puts it all, along with my ADR's, in order by date and I am set to go!! Ok, I confess to belonging to overplanners anonymous. But I do make changes there. We are not locked into the plan. It is nice to look at and makes me even more excited about the trip.

That is 100% true. I am sure for families with small kids, those who don't like roller coasters, people who go back to the resort for a nap, ect it is a fine system, but my point is that it negatively impacts those who want to maximize time on rides and minimize time in line. The "you can get more than 3" argument is largely useless for those people.

But you don't need to delete them, or start over. You can change the initial 3 one at a time on your app or at a kiosk, or you can just let them expire and go get more. There is literally no reason to delete a fastpass. After your initial three, you can choose more based upon availability at a kiosk. I suggest you read one of the fastpass threads here on the Dis to get a better idea of how the system works so you can use it to your advantage.

I vastly prefer the old system. I don't like prebooking at a set time, or the fact that I am locked in to just 3.

But with the old system, someone in your party had to run over to the ride to get the fast passes, and you had absolutely no control over what the return time would be, or if there would be a FP available at all.

And you aren't locked into just 3. After you use all three, you can go to the kiosk and get another one (and another, and another, if you choose).

The only day I was unable to book three was on our Christmas Party day. Couldn't squeeze in three FPs in the two hour period we'll be there before the party starts.

I like the new system because we don't have to worry if we're arriving a little later than some other people. We can still get some decent FP reservations this way. The old way, there would be days we'd arrive at the parks and the return time would be into the evening already.
