Fast Food That Doesn’t Suck

I've been to a few of the fast food spots in WDW. Have enjoyed most. But, all have the same old food. I'd like to know where the best fast food places are.

We always like to get to the sit-down restaurants as much as we can. But, don't like to waste that much park time eating during lunch. Where can we go to get a good fast lunch?

We also prefer sit down meals, but we have found some fast food venues at each park that we like. So, here's my families list:

EPCOT: Sunshine Season Food Fair (The Land)- This place has a lot of variety, and there are healthy options too. You can choose from the Sandwich Shop, the BBQ Shop, the Pasta Shop, and the Bakery & Ice Cream Shop.

AK: Tuskers or Flametree BBQ- These places have very good food, IMHO, and the atmosphere in each is cool too.

MK: Cosmic Rays (Tomorrow Land)- Not a lot of variety here, but you can get a chicken deal (whole rotisserie chicken with garlic mashed potatoes) for $15.99, and it will feed 3-4 people! Yum!

MGM: This is the one park we have not tried fast food. We love the Brown Derby, Hollywood & Vine, etc. too much to try anything fast in this park!

Another decent one at MK-Columbia Harbor House.

We love Peco's Bills at MK (Ate there 2x in one day )
and the counter service place at the Japan Pavillion in Epcot.

Epcot--Yakitori House, Cantina in Mexico, Fish & Chips, Sunshine Food Fair

MK--Cosmic Rays, Columbia Harbor House

MGM--Buy the Book has good cookies and gourmet coffees

I eat mostly full service meals for lunch and then smaller meals ( sometimes just snacks) for dinner. I really liked the Tangierine Cafe in the Morroco pavilion at Epcot.
I like the Flame Tree BBQ at AK.
I liked the El Pirata Y el Perico at MK but most everyone else thought it was like Taco Bell. I think it is better than that but you'd have to form your own opinion. ;)

My opinions are a repeat of some of the above:

Columbia Harbor House @ MK - great chowder in a bread bowl, tuna sandwich, green salad with chicken, fruit and nuts!

Tangeriene Cafe, Morocco @ Epcot - schwarma platters and sandwiches are excellent!

AK - Tusker House or Flame Tree BBQ - not your typical counter service, either.

ENJOY!

My favorites are many of the same as already mentioned:
MK-Columbia Harbor House-Clam Chowder in bread bowl-YUM! (make sure you sit upstairs, very quiet and relaxing with great views at the window tables)
AK-Flame Tree Barbeque-This is my favorite counter service place ANYWHERE, I love the ribs! Make sure you sit at the tables down near the water--beautiful view, relaxing place!
Epcot-Tangierine Cafe--great sandwiches, sort of like a gyro
MGM-the outdoor food court right by TOT and RnRC. We like the turkey legs, baked potatoes, fries, onion rings and frozen lemonades.

Try the smoked ham sandwhich on pretzel bread in Germany at WS.

We loved Tusker House at the AK, and had a great meal at the counter service place in Japan-- Yakitori House- I think? Tasty for adults, but kid friendly-- chicken and rice. And little pre-packaged sushi (mostly California Rolls and the like.) When we went the place was full of Japanese families. Good sign.

Am curious to hear more on MGM, as I think we'll skip sit-down there this trip (we did and loved Brown Derby last time, but I'm not interested in the other sit-down options.) We might just stick with the potatoes, and turkey legs.

We really liked El Pirata y el Perico as well in the MK. Definately not like a Taco Bell, to me anyway. Columbia House is also another choice there at the MK that we like. In AK we try to go to Tusker House as we enjoyed our meals there. We rarely ever eat fast food at Epcot or the Studios, so I have no advice there.

I like Yakitori House, the fish & chips stand or the Moroccan carryout in Epcot's World Showcase; these are different from the usual fast food. In the Magic Kingdom I'll go for Columbia Harbor House (I like peppery chicken strips). I usually take Cosmic Ray's over Pecos Bill only because Cosmic Ray's has barbecue sauce for your burger. I'd like El Pirato y El Perico a lot better if they had a chicken taco option rather than just beef. At AK I love Flame Tree Barbecue for their chicken sandwich. I don't have kids, so I may not be picking the kid-friendly places.

The only "fast food" that I love at MGM is the ABC Commissary. The Feijoda (black beans & rice) fills me up - I can't even finish it. It's really, really good! I also like the Tabbouleh Wrap - but if you're not into "health food" then you might not like it. It's a nice, fresh-tasting, light alternative to the burgers/fries/hot dog routine.

I liked the El Pirata Y el Perico at MK - the taco salad is great and a very good deal.

I love the counter service place in Morrocco - good treats too.

MK - As so many others have said Cosmic Ray's and Columbia Harbour House are both great.
Epcot - Most of WS has great food. My favorites are nachos at Cantina de San Angel, bratwurst at Sommerfest, and anything from Yakitori house.
AK - I like Tusker House, but for some reason almost everytime I hit this park I'm craving pizza and Pizzafari is really good.
MGM - My favorite was ruined by the removal of the toppings bar, but this last trip we tried ABC Commisary and it was good, just don't get the burgers. The fish and chips were really yummy.

I would say one of the best places for "fast food" is the Wolfgang Puck's Express on The West Side, across from Virgin.

At MGM there is the Sunset Boulevard area down by TOT. They have fruit, burgers, fries, pizza, turkey legs, potatoes, pretzels, hot dogs. It depends on what you like, but it's all decent. The pizza can be great sometimes...and the pretzels are great, prices are horrible but that's a given.:o

We like Casey's on Main Street and the place on Tom Sawyer's Island.

In Epcot we like the Sunshine food fair in the Land.

The outdoor stands on the left as you are heading to ToT and RnR have baked potatoes and good foot long chili dogs. It is also nice that you can sit outside and watch the crowds while you eat! AND, they serve beer! I have been to backlot express twice, and both times got a very dried out hamburger. There is also an ice cream stand and a place that sells McDonald's french fries.

We also like our sitdown meals, but sometimes we just don't want to take the time away from the attractions to devote to them. That being said, here is a list of our favorite counterservice restaurants.

MK:
Pecos Bill's
Cosmic Ray's

Epcot:
Anything in the Sunshine Food Faire in the Land
Yorkshire County Fish House (my Husband's, not really mine)
Electric Umbrella
Yakitori House

MGM:
None

Animal Kingdom:
Tusker House
Flametree BBQ
Petrifries (sometimes you have to get away from the fancy food and need some good ole McDonald's French Fries)---;)
