Besides burgers or chicken minus the bun, what else can I eat? Some friends did a Taco Bell run yesterday and I had to pass. Which fast food chains have the best low carb options?

Thanks!

Let's seeeeee...

Taco Bell: Taco salad without beans or onions and don't eat the shell.

Pizza Hut (some go here for the lunch buffet): Buffalo Wings

Subway: any sub can be made into a salad, but avoid their low-fat dressing. (I bring my own dressing.)

Big Johns (Steak and Cheese place locally...but substitute your steak and cheese sandwich place :p ): Eat the steak and cheese without onion, no bun.

McDonald's and Wendy's have GREAT lowcarb salads. McD's had the bacon ranch (avoid their dressing...can get lower carbs in Hidden Valley Ranch) and Wendy's has a BLT (again, use your own dressing).

What other restaurants do you have in your area? We have a Hardee's and I like their Ham and Swiss without a bun. Burger King has salads now, too but I haven't had one.

Hope some of this was helpful to you. Keep on low-carbin'!! ;)

This is so frustrating. I posted this long reply and then got the dreaded "page cannot be found" message. I didn't copy it either :(

What I said was that I avoid fast food because you can get burned out on burgers and chicken breasts pretty quickly.

Does Taco Bell have fajitas? I love fajitas, sour cream and guacamole sans the tortillas.

I know that McD, BK and Wendys have salads, I just don't know how Atkins friendly they are. A&W has a wonderful olive burger, too. Mayonaise with chopped green olives, yum.

There's always pizza. My husband always wanted to eat only the toppings, anyway. Now that he follows the Atkins way of eating he has a good excuse to do that ;)

HA! I copied this message, so when I hit submit it will go right through, just you wait and see.

Told ya!

By the way, will you be joining us here on WISH? Are you going to take the challenge? Please say yes. I'd love to have you in my support group.

Interesting articles, Doreen. It seems that Dana Carpender and I have a lot in common:

I'm afraid that fast food isn't one of those things I think about a whole lot, because I work at home, and I have no kids. I never need to run out from the office for a quick lunch, I never need to stop and grab a bite between appointments, and I have nobody nagging me to help them complete their collection of small plastic toys tied to the latest hot movie. Every now and then I grab a fast lunch while running errands, or while on the road, or drive through and get an iced tea, and that's about it.

I'm the same way. No job outside the home, no little kids. I don't even have grandchildren :(

Thanks for the links, Doreen.

I've also found some downloadable nutritional charts for some of the fast food places.

They'll usually have a 'nutritional information' button that you can click, and if it comes up in Acrobat, you can download them to your hard drive.

I did this with the Atkins carb book, and I made a shortcut to it on my desktop. Now if I have any questions, I just click and search!!

DoeWDW- Thanks for the links. She had some great fast food suggestions on her site. I do go the fast food route every once in a while with the kids. We have home cooked meals almost every night but those hectic days, the $1 menu at McDonalds does come in handy.

nativetxn- I posted on your WISH Challenge link. I'm hoping to get my clippie before induction is over!:Pinkbounc
