Fashionistas What are you wearing to parks?

Fashionista? In July and August?? No Way!:rotfl: I just make sure that my family and I have at least 1 shower each day and I pray that other WDW visitors do the same:lmao: (that afternoon monorail can be a bit "stuffy") I will wear the most comfortable, loose fitting (that's a challenge) clothing and shoes I have available. If necessary, I will do laundry to wear the same comfortable clothes over and over. Minimal makeup; my hair in the parks will be clean in the morning; soaked by the afternoon.

I had some tops made for me by a local seamstress. I purchased Disney fabric on eBay and then had her make a basic top with matching colored straps for them. Then found some capris and comfortable sandals to match.

Do you have any pictures of these tops, they sound adorable.

Sundresses are my staple outfit at Disney! Old Navy shorts fit me really well, so I also bring a few pairs of those along with tank tops. I can wear tennis shoes with the shorts, so that's always a nice break for my feet. I always wear flip flops w/ my sundresses, and I usually acquire some serious blisters from them, too. As for accidentally flashing people, I did that ONE time when I was boarding Space Mountain last year. So far, that's been my only time and hopefully my last. I was pretty embarassed.

I always like to look cute at Disney...I don't want to end up hating our vacation pictures! lol I also do my usual makeup routine and fix my hair. My hair looks good until we step outside of the room and then the heat & humidity do their thing.

I know this may sound like tmi but what do you wear under your clothes? Specifically bras. I'm an underwire kind of girl but after being at the parks all day, I'm totally soaked and I can't go without some type of support. Do you wear sports bras or just bring a bunch of bras? I usually pack 3 or 4 bras for the week but maybe I should be bring enough for 2 a day. Thanks.

I like the sports bras that hook in the front. I've purchased them at Walmart; they were either Fruit of the Loom or Hanes. I'm not sure if they still make them, I still have some from several years ago. You can wash them by hand and they should be dry by the next morning. For a little more support and shaping Warner's makes a wireless/seamless "everyday" bra that has a little more padding and takes longer to dry. These are better quality and I wear these to go out in Disney. I purchase these at Kohl's and Boscovs (a mid-atlantic region dept. store) when they go on sale and offer rebates.

Without a doubt- sports bras! Two reasons- #1 way more comfortable than wearing underwire in the Florida summer. #2- I have a lot of cute/sheer-ish Ts that I normally layer a cami under but I don't want to wear a second layer- a sports bra peeking out of the top will be fine. I will be pairing all of this with shorts and Teva or Reef flip-flops. I'm bringing a couple of cotton dresses for nights out at DD or resort restaurants.

Great thread! Just remember that "comfort" and "fashionable" are not mutually exclusive! I typically will go with walking shorts and tanks with some type of "cutesy" detailing. I had not considered sundresses before but think I will be packing a couple of cute knit dresses for our upcoming trip as they are my go-to summer wear at home. Shoes -- I must admit, I will go for function over fashion IF I ever have to choose but can usually find some Clarks, Teva, or Yellowbox that fit the bill for both.

Also, for those of you, like me, who don't even like to walk to the mailbox without first "putting on your face", bare escentuals makes a great tinted mineral sunscreen that doubles as foundation. (I think it is also available in a "clear" version) It is sweat proof and offers great sun protection. Best of all, it is portable in a little retractable brush. PERFECT for taking in your park bag and not messy at all!

Shorts, tank tops, sundresses and flip flops are my mainstays at Disney in the summer months. I don't wear sundresses that are short short... usually to the knee so I've never had an issue (that I'm aware of) with flashing anyone getting on or off a ride.

I love my Crocs Capri Flip Flips. I can wear them all day and night without any issue. I have 3-4 pairs.

If we are going to any table service restaurants I make sure I have a light sweater/cardi to put on. Very often the air conditioning makes sitting in a restaurant uncomfortable without something on my shoulders/arms.

Linen is the most breathable and comfortable fabric. Yup, it can get crinkly and stay that way, but, hey, that's a look. ;) If wrinkled isn't your style, try linen/cotton blends; they are still uber-comfy and wrinkle much less. DH will wear nothing but linen or linen blend shorts at Disney. I wear a lot of linen tops and shirts. Oh, and it's all washable.

Agree with PPs on the tech fabrics, too.

For shoes, our whole family wears Keens in the parks, including the water parks. DH even wears his on date night, bcz he refuses to pack shoes for Disney. I'll bring a strappy sandal with some bling. So not for touring, but so cute for dinner!

I'm like a 4 year old and tend to buy all the colors of things I like, so I got some from Target in all of the colors my store had. (Can't post links, search Mossimo kimono dress at Target's website). I also got a couple of the strappy ones from the junior section that were tasteful for a mom of 2 to wear.

I went flip flop shopping today, and for the fashionistas that still want comfy footwear, Teva Mush has TONS of cute styles as well as Sanuk! Bought me a pair of Sanuk flip flops and my feet are in heaven

You ask
wonder if I'll look silly in sandals in Decemebr? Any thoughts/opinions/experiences?

Wear whatever is comfy to you. If you ever feel silly.........look around! There is always someone who looks sillier! :rotfl: Who really cares! Well to be honest I cared more when I was younger but now...Comfort is the most important thing. And as a PP said you will never see these people again! Have a great vacation!! :cutie:

That's funny; my daughter used to log on a "bad shoe in a theme park" website. Hilarious!:lmao:I can't figure out why some of these girls have to wear those stacked heels:confused3

To other posters; what are Keens?

I live in sundresses while at Disney! I tend to favor tech fabrics b/c they are great in the heat and humidity. Prana makes some really cute, fashionista friendly dresses and if you look you can find them for better than retail prices. (backcountry.com, rei.com are my go to websites!)You just have to keep an eye out for sales. Lole also makes some great tech fabric sundresses, very cute and swingy. Athleta.com has the best "sport" dresses out there, but they are PRICEY. Sales are good though if you can catch them! Patagonia's Bandha dress looks really dressy even though it's a stretchy tech fabric. There is a longer version and a shorter version. Both really cute and flattering!!

As for shoes I am a flip flop person. Teva mush are my mainstays. I have never had a problem wearing them while at Disney. My feet have never bothered me at all. I also have several pairs of Privo flip flops. A bit dressier, more sturdy...but still comfy...although most Privo flip flops don't perform well when they get wet, as in caught in a sudden and very fierce rain storm! They get wet and stay wet for quite a while. If I want to get super princessy and go for the sparkle I LOVE Yellow Box flips! Lots of sequins options!!:rotfl:

Being at Disney does not sway me from my desire to look cute and fashionable whilst avoiding the pitfalls of humidity and sweating!:thumbsup2

PS-I ALWAYS have my favorite hoodie with me in my backpack. The AC at Disney is STRONG and you will freeze if you don't have something to put on while inside!!!

I've been looking at the Athleta catalog lately and love their stuff. I'm using the long sleeved hoodie and a skort (but just looks like a skirt) as my reward for working out from now until then. Are they worth the price? I mean, are they made well? I don't mind spending the money on one or two staple items I'll get great use out of, but I don't want to pay all that money for things that aren't cut well or that won't last.

TIA!

Sorry I have never ordered anything from Athleta, but here is my dirty little secret of where to find surprisingly cute casual wear-

Bass Pro. Yes- the fishing/hunting/outdoor store. I am picky, picky, picky about my clothes so I was just as surprised as anyone when my husband dragged me in there and I found stuff I liked while trying to kill time. The two lines I like are Bob Timberlake and Natural Reflections. I buy my shorts almost exclusively there. They are affordable and hit the perfect "sweet spot" of length for me- nothing hanging out, but not old lady shorts. They also have NorthFace, Ascend, and some other "higher" end outdoorsy lines. This stuff is perfect for theme park days.
