Fashion Bullies

Yeah, but why does Abercrombie and hollister have to be a security blanket? I've never figured that out.

I guess having abercrombie across your chest is attractive.:rolleyes1 Why be a walking billboard?

^^ I agree, I dont know why people constantly have it on they are like walking billboards. I mean, i wear that stuff occasionally, but its not a 'security blanket' for me its just clothes. I shop at other places though, i like wet seal, and im perfectly fine with Kohl's. In my school this isnt really an issue.

I really wish I had gone to a different high school where clothes were not an issue. Thank god for college. Its a blessing.

i wear t-shirts.
logoed t-shirts.
mainly of sports teams.

all the guys think it's super cool
all the girls probably hate it. but i really could care less.

i don't really care what people think of the way i dress. because really IT ISN'T THERE FREAKING CHOICE.

so if they really do care, maybe they should try to look at the inside of people and not judge so much.

i'm not a criminal. don't judge me.

Yep.

I have never worn name brand/designer clothes. [I'm thinking A&E, Hollister, abercrombie, etc.]
I never will.
I think they are all ugly and expensive.
Why would you want a store logo on your shirt?

T-shirt and Jeans...what's the problem.
I could care less what people think of how I dress.
They need to get over themselves and care about there problems instead of the ones they think others have.
Just because you don't dress fashionable and wear designer clothes doesn't mean there is a problem, or there is anything wrong with it.

Honestly, its an unspoken deal in our school.
I mean, no one makes fun of people that don't wear expensive clothes, but they generally don't seem to be popular, maybe because of this?

In middle school it was a BIG deal. I dragged my mom to Hollister and Abercrombie and all that, because I felt I needed to wear it to be accepted.
Again, it wasn't talked down about, it was just kind of expected.

Now I don't care. My favorite store is Forever 21, and I brag to people about how cheap my clothes are.
I still buy jeans at AE and Hollister, because I like the way they fit my body.

But, I mean, people still wear that stuff a lot. I wear some of the sweaters and things I bought from there in middle school, because it would be dumb not to.
But I'm actually embarrased now to wear the logo tees. I don't know, it's just too... dumb.

Sorry, it kind of contradicts itself, but it is what it is.

I LOVE FOREVER21 IT ROCKS!!!

Its not expensive at all and thats why i love it

Because they dont see a reason for it to be expensive

Ok so i'll be the first to admit that if i see someone in red shoes with a purple skirt and a green knitted sweater then i may laugh at them from a distance, i might look at people and think eeww what is she wearing or even ooo that does not suit her but at the end of the day if they like it and it makes them happy then whatever. It doesn't concern me.

I don't have as many clothes as most girls. I have a school uniform and i spend my weekends and most weeknights riding so i don't have any need for them besides the odd going out or holiday.

I'll wear whatever i like, how i like.

I wear all designer clothes. they are my security blanket and I know nobody will mess with me. I am defined by it.

Ok sorry but would all rather be talked about behind your back where the whole school is talking about you and you haven't got a clue or be told to your face and fix the problem? just something to ponder...

Ok i have a few things i would like to say to this but i'd probably get points so i shall try and be nice therefore having to leave out nearly everything:

What 'problem'? The fact that some people may have the guts to dress a bit differently from everyone else? The fact that perhaps they don't like the same style clothes as you? Hold the headlines please someone has dared to be different! So really does it directly affect you? Does everyone have to be the same?
Oh and in my experience, which despite my poor fashions sense and lack of designer clothing i have very little of, when people tell you to your face it's usually in snide remarks and crude insults with maybe an added punch or kick whilst your on your own by the ringleader of a group of witches while the rest look on and laugh. Some may like to call it bullying. Oh and please don't think you're doing them a favour, you're probably hurting them, making them more self-conscious, hey not everyone can afford desinger clothes, you probably make them feel like crap.
So i have pondered and there is my conclusion. Hey i could be totally wrong, it could be totally different in America but where i live that's pretty much how it is.

Woah. Cool down on CheerExtreme. She's just voicing an opinion that a lot of people share. She shouldn't get shut down for being honest about what she thinks.

And I don't know about other schools, but in my school (in America) I've never seen anyone get made fun of to their face about what they're wearing, or heard anyone say someone was poor because they don't wear Hollister.

And I've NEVER seen a fight, or any physical violence, in my school. We have a zero tolerance policy, and the kids in my school are so anti-violent. Honestly, it's a bunch of suburban rich kids. The only real drama around here is who stole whose boyfriend and who got caught doing drugs and stuff. No violence here.

My school is pretty much the same.
Suburban rich kids.
Now, I'm an average kid. I don't have tons and tons of money to throw away on clothes I'll wear once. I just happened to grow up in a newer neighborhood, and go to the newest K-8 school in the area. My high school was pretty much the same. It only started being a high school in like 200-something and the first graduating class was in 2003.
Anyways, I just got lucky to live in a newer neighbourhood, and to go to new, more expensive schools.
Most of the people around here who don't wear AE, A&F and Hollister, only don't wear it because they don't like it, think it's lame, don't think it's worth the money or their parents don't. There are a few people who can't afford it, but they'll buy a few pieces from AE once and a while when they find something cheap.

When I was in high school I wore all American Eagle, Abercrombie, Polo, Lacoste, Coach Purse, Louis Vuitton, Dooney & Burke...you name it...but I'd occassionally wear something i really actually enjoyed something a little different and i'd get the "wth?!!" looks from everyone.

Now i have been in college for two years and wear whatever my little heart desires. i guess if you'd have to label it, i'd be classified in vintage/indie fashion. Now, I am not only a photographer/graphic design student, but a model who has actually had chances to network with some of the top people in the fashion industry.

Seriously, make it youre own. Don't be a cookie cutter image out of a magazine. Your own personal style is something to embrace and show it!!! Who cares if you get a few weird looks and people talking behind your back. They're just insecure because they fear something different. It is out of their "norm." and hinders them to accept it. (okay i studied a little psych. too for a year before switching my major to art haha)

Just don't feel like you have to dress head to toe in name brand clothing to validate yourself. If that is your true personal style then that is great! Just ad a crazy little necklace or something to mix it up if you wish. :flower2:
