I guess I must be living under a rock. I had no idea! I should have realized once the dozens of texts they sent me daily stopped. LOL This was my go to place for clothing. It was reasonably priced and I could usually get something nice.

So, where are you pooh sized ladies who shopped there also going now? :confused3

I really can't stand Lane Bryant, other then for bras. Catherines is way too expensive. I can't see spending 40.00 or more on a shirt that used to cost me 1/2 that.

Thanks gals!

LOVE the Dress Barn. It is never a matter of finding something -- just not buying everything! :lmao: Annnnnddd they have all sizes!

Any other places? Torrid is umm...too young for me. I have an Avenue not too far away...but their prices match those at Lane Bryant, at least online. I can't spend 40 on a casual shirt. That is insane. I will relearn how to sew first. LOL.

Dress barn and lands end do not have my size. That was the best thing about Fashion Bug. Sigh....I am too old for this!

I have decent luck at Old Navy honestly. Nothing too grand but it's nice for tshirts and cardigans, stuff like that. If it's something I need to last or look good like work clothes, then I hit Lane Bryant and Torrid, but for easy stuff that I don't expect to be amazing, or kind of basic cheap staples I can usually find something at ON.

I know I'm sad too. Old Navy around here only goes to XL. I've found some decent shirts at JCP, but a lot of the pooh sized clothes remind of clothes my grandma would wear.

Target has a small selection but its usually pretty nice and cheap enough. They have more online than in the store, too. Just got a couple of cute denim capris there.

CJ Banks, Kohls and sometimes from Eloquii (although its kind of young for me, but sometimes I can pick up some basic pieces). All of them are kind of pricey, but sign up on their website and wait for sales......its not too bad then.

I love Ulla Popken, cool stuff, very expensive unless it is discounted. Catherines has specials, they occasionally send me 40% off coupons. Last year during a special I got three nice short sleeve shirts for 30.00.

For real budget go online to One Stop Plus, there website is a collaboration of Jessica London, Women Within, Roamans, Avenue...... and I can always find OSP internet coupons, some with free shipping, some with up to 50% off. Always look for a coupon code. I never pay the rack rate.

Husband here.... BUT I do shop with my wife... (And shop for her...gifts etc)

You aren't going to find the best deals on pooh sized clothes on store's websites - you have to shop their clearance racks, sales, and get on their mailing lists.

You can do FAR better at the Avenue with coupons and clearance racks than you ever did at Fashion Bug.

The same with Catherine's - you have to shop their sales and use their coupons.

My dear wife has been shopping herself to death for a dress to wear to a wedding this spring.... tired of hearing about it and her showing me dozens of dresses online... I stopped in to a Catherine's on my drive home from a work trip.

I spent around $200 and here is what I got...
Two very nice dresses (one will be returned)
Two very dressy formal tops
All could easily be worn on a formal night on a cruise.
In addition to the clothing, I got 4 $50 off $100 purchase coupons
One $10 off $20 coupon
One 25% off Clearance coupon (good for the same dates and able to be combined with the other coupons.

So, while I did spend on average of $50 per item of clothing (one of the tops was $11 on clearance down from $75)

The trip BACK to Catherine's could be as follows:
$400-$200-$10-25% =$142.50

SO while their rack prices are outrageous, they do have great incentives, coupons, clearance, and 'secret' sales.

They also do a lot of mid-season clearance - they seem to do two assortments for every season. Early summer and late summer - so you can still get summer clothes DURING the summer off the clearance rack.

Lane Bryant....what can I say, some of their stuff is just absolute hideous and not considerate of the taste that most women have in clothes - some of the stuff would look great if you were clubbing..... but let's face it, how many women who wear a size 24 go 'clubbing'?!

My wife gets really frustrated while shopping as it is, and when it comes to sizing at different stores, my wife's idea of a nightmare is trying on clothes all day... and lap bars on Splash Mountain...... but I digress.... :furious:

There are a few websites out there that have GREAT deals as well - the one is BCOutlet.

ALSO, if you can find a plus size consignment shop in your area, you can not only get some great deals, but you can sell your clothes there as well for store credit to have a revolving wardrobe! My mom used to do that, and she got great deals of really nice clothes!

Hope that helps some!

I agree One Stop Plus is great, I get the catalog and for basics it's pretty cheap. Some of the more expensive styles are too trendy for me. They have everything, the last catalog I got even had mens styles! Great for my ex college linebacker hubby. Do check the size charts as different lines have different size charts.

Have you looked in a Lane Bryant outlet store before? Their outlets are normally stocked with great stuff at much better prices.

Have you tried cato or maurices? I always shop clearance first. Have found some really cute stuff at Ross too. LOVE torrid

Dress Barn bought them and they all closed right after Thanksgiving 2012. They kept the Dress Barn's open. :confused3 I never find anything there.

I like to shop at Lane Bryant, but only when I get a deal. Today they have everything online is 50% off! I love their bras the most!

I also like to shop at JcPenney in their plus size section. I like their Xersion Plus Size athletic wear, A.N.A. jeans/capris, and their basic shirts.

Those are my go to shops for Plus Size!

I've been getting a lot of stuff at Old Navy (online) too. The trick with them is to get your order to $50 for free shipping, then return anything that doesn't fit or you don't like. They aren't perfect though; I find that their sizing is all over the place and very inconsistent. I usually get a 4x in their shirts, and I've had some that I absolutely swim in, and others that go right back. I got a bunch of cute, solid color short sleeve tops that I can wear to work in various colors...I tend to buy one of each when I find an item there that I like and that fits well.

I find the Catherine's near me to be way over priced, dowdy, and very old lady-ish. I think the only clothes I ever actually bought from there were the control top panties I wore for my wedding:lmao: I try to check out the sales racks at Lane Bryant because they tend to be really overpriced IMO too....

What was really frustrating to me was that when the closest Fashion bug to me was closing, it was like they brought in a ton of LB stuff, and jacked the prices way, way up only to mark them down 60-80%. Perfect example - I bought a pair of khaki shorts that were marked 59.99 (WHO PAYS $60 FOR SHORTS???) but they were 80% off, so that made them only $12, which to me didn't seem that great for a going out of business sale but they fit well so I got them (and I found a 2nd pair that I paid $3 for, so I thought 2 pairs of shorts for $15 wasn't bad).

I just wanted to say that is really nice that you shop for clothes for your wife! My DH wouldn't even know where to begin....
