The Tomorrowland Stage will removed beginning on Thursday, June 10, 2004. To eliminate any Guest show issues, a construction wall will be installed around the perimeter of the stage. The removal process will take approximately 4-6 weeks.

Thanks to a friend of mine at WDW for forwarding this info

Here's hoping that the skyway station gets removed and a new attraction fills the area left by both.

I say ,"Bring back SkyWay!".

Any word on where they are doing the Magic Music Day performances? This stage was mainly used for this purpose, are they doing it on the other stage in Tomorrowland?

Thank goodness! If you weren't actually watching the performers (which 95% of guests weren't), they were extremely noisy and they ruined the Tomorrowland ambiance.

In all the years going to MK, I never saw a performance on that stage!

I'm curious because I performed on that stage! It was so much fun. After I did Magic Music Days, everytime I go down I inquire at Guest Services as to when there will be performances, but thats besides the point!

We are talking about the stage that is in front of the old Skyway and Space Mountain, right? And not the sit-down one where they have the Christmas show? (Which is the only show I have ever seen there in the past 6 years.)

Most of the performances I saw were of high school bands, including my son's. Could we stretch the Tomorrowland theme and make a case for those kids being our future :-)?? Anyway, knowing what hard work, dedication, and courage it took for those students to make it to that stage, I stopped and cheered at each performance I happened to be lucky enough to see. I'll miss the stage since it was the one my son performed on, but I'd love to see future performances on the stage near Buzz.

Interesting. We were there last week and saw a band performing. Few were watching and I remarked to hubby that all the audience must be is parents.

My cousins performed there with their dance school last year.

I think Mrs. Toad has it right - like her, I got to enjoy watching my high schooler perform on that stage - it was a big event for the school and a big event for him. On subsequent MK visits since that day, I've always taken a few minutes to stop and applaud any group of kids performing, knowing the amount of effort they put in to be able to get there as well as how much it means to the kids to be able to play to an audience that appreciates their performance.

I for one will be sorry to see the stage gone.

Maybe they'll just used the other stage by Buzz. Is that staged every used besides holidays?

I've never seen a performance on the stage near Buzz. I've seen other student bands perform on the stage in EPCOT's Future World, though. Maybe they'll host more performances there.

At least there's one non-parent in the audience when I'm at WDW. I go to every high school band performance I can at WDW. Missed DS's band in WDW, and now that he's in college-a music major-I love to see the high schoolers perform. And it quite often brings tears to my eyes just knowing what a memory-producing experience they're having.

The Skyway building is currently being utilized for a new guest service called 'Kiddie Concierge.' Guest Relations CMs staff the new lounge area that has been designed as a refuge for families with very young children (4 and under). There are areas for nursing and changing, toys and a TV to occupy the children, and a cool quiet place to rest.

Look for Magic Music Days performances to relocate to Cosmic Ray's or the Galaxy Palace Theater.

Cosmic Ray's? Will they take out our friendly lounge singer? :(

Plus, I never saw any mention of the kid area a couple weeks ago. Is it open?

KC is being kept low-key so that it remains a quiet place for people with infants and very small children.
Cosmic Rays has always hosted MMD groups. The stage that Sonny Eclipse performs on has two levels (this dates back to the opening of MK, when the Tomorrowland Terrace featured a fountain where Sonny now resides and various performers would rise from below the restaurant to do their acts for the guests in the dining room.)
