I know there have been some posts about what the weather is like and all that fun stuff and how everyone says that it can be hot one day and down right cold the next. So I hope this helps out everyone who is going and the decisions of your itenery and how to pack for your Disney Trip and your safe return trip home.

Pay close attention espically if you are leaving from the south central states:

December 2004
1st-3rd. Mostly cloudy, quite windy, rain/wet snow. 4th-7th. Storm from Texas moves northeast bringing widespread rain/wet snow. 8th-11th. More rain/wet snow showers. 12th-15th. Unsettled. 16th-19th. Lots of clouds. 20th-23rd. Another round of precipitation, then much colder air. 24th-27th. Fair, dry, cold. 28th-31st. More rain/wet snow.

And for everyone going to Disney in December:

December 2004
1st-3rd. Rain/wet snow shifts into Tennessee, points south to Gulf Coast, then clear, cold. 4th-7th. Storm from Texas moves up to Ohio River Valley, depositing heavy rain/wet snow northern portions Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee. Very cold air follows. Freeze conditions into Florida. 8th to 11th. Unseasonably cold, dry. 12th-15th. Frigid air extends into Florida, then milder. 16th-19th. Mixed clouds. Mild days; chilly nights. 20th-23rd. Showers, wet snow, then bitterly cold air. 24th-27th. Showery rains fall across much of Southeast. 28th-31st. Blustery winds diminish.

I wanted cold weather mixed in with the snow on Main Street and the Christmas decorations and for anyone else that wanted the same, what are your thoughts?

I'd feel better believing all of that had the Almanac gotten the weather anywhere near correct in my area last year....

It happens every year--I hear "table talk" about the simply horrible winter conditions the Alamanc predicts. Half the time it's right--and half the time it's wrong. When it is right, everyone marvels at the wisdom and accuracy. When it's wrong--well, people simply seem to forget that part of it.

Anyone who bases December travel plans to WDW based on the Farmers Almanac is taking a a 50/50 chance.

I agree, but to see that the weather for December is some what posted makes it that much more fun.

:D The Farmers Almanac is pretty much on par with early exit polling in Presidentail elections!!!!:teeth:

Ya know, I won't freak about the weather until I see the extended forecast for Orlando the week prior to our trip. Like another poster mentioned, everyone is amazed when the Almanac gets the weather right, but seems to forget about it when it's wrong...and it's not always right! For example, the almanac calls that for Nov. 1-3 in our region, we are supposed to have a brief spell of cold...well it's been beautiful out and WARMER than usual. Guess it got that wrong! I just say plan your trip when you want to go, and don't base it on the almanac.

I agree that is what we will do. It's just nice to see something about the weather for December:bounce:

I'm not going to put too much faith in the Almanac just yet. We are really hoping for a warm Christmas in Florida this year. If I wanted the cold weather, we'd stay here in New England!!

Last year during the time we were going to Disney in Dec the Almanac stated it was going to be unusually cold and rainy I got so scared I change my ressies from the campground to a hotel. Well, the rain never came and I had to go to the store and buy shorts for my kids because it was so warm. I wouldn't take what the almanac says seriously anymore. :smooth:

I don't remember for sure but I think the Almanac said that the first two weeks in March 2004 were going to be cold and rainy. Guess what? It not only was in the upper 70's, low 80"s and not one drop of rain fell.

The best way to know what the weather is...Look out the window and see. Until then don't worry, you can't do anything about it.

I agree! ::yes::

Once I get inside the 10-day extended forecast timeframe, I start looking at the weather. Until then, I just plan to pack clothes for any kind of weather. I'm obsessively planning for my December trip, but I won't worry about the weather just yet! :D

Here is a suggestion that might give you a better idea of what the weather may be. I use weatherunderground.com to look at the history of the days we plan to be in Disney.

Just put Kissimmee, Fl in the search box and go to history. Then you can put in the days you want to look at. Of course, it won't tell you what it will be like when your there, but it does give you a good idea of the likely possibilities. :sunny:

crow11ad, if I read your post right, whatever the weather turns out to be, just seeing the dates and weather reports is exciting. I am planning on taking clothes for just about any scenario, freezing to 70's. One year we were at WDW in January and we wore gloves every am!!::MinnieMo

That is correct. It is exciting and we cannot wait to go. I know the weather espically coming from Texas can change just like that. I just hope everyone has a great time and is safe on the return home.
