Farewell River Country

I have a question about the water related issues of Water Country. Doesn't Disney still have activities in Bay Lake that in some cases the participants go in the water? I may be wrong, but I've seen numerous discussions on this topic in the past where this arguement was given.

I think size and crowds had a lot in the overall scheme, personally.

In the end, I will definetly miss Water Country! I think the last time my family went there was in 1996, I use to REALLY like the rapids tube shute where you went from pool to pool of water by little chutes.

RIP WC!

That was my favorite, too!:(

Oh well, on to the future.... looking forward to the opening of Slusher Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon this spring1 :cool1:

the pool was the best pool on property, we go in August and camp at fort wilderness, the pool was so clear, deep and cold it was great, both of my girls just loved jumping and diving in from the rocks, it was so refreshing, I still wish that they would just keep the pool open for the campground......

I will always miss River Country. We went there quite a few times and my brothers and I have really fond memories. I have great slides (but no slide projector any more!) from our visits there. Personally, I don't like Blizzard Beach. I can't see well without my glasses and the slides there are too scary for me anyways. I do like Typhoon Lagoon but will forever miss River Country!

river country was the first water park i had ever been to. i thoroughly enjoyed myself there and still have fond memories of our time there. when i returned to WDW after many a years absence, i was saddned that RC had closed. i understand the reasons why it closed but miss it still. though it was kind of neat that i was able to tell my sons about RC and compared it to BB and TL.

I loved River Country and hate to see it go. It was a great place to go and have fun without a huge crowd. And what was even better, Goofy was often seen going on a slide or two! Really gonna miss it!

when I've going to Disneyworld in 2001 I choice to visit blizzard beach and typhoon lagoon (I think in this time river country is not a priority )but today I regret do not visit this water park. :wave2:

:guilty:

Does anyone have photos of RC that they could share? I would love to see what it was like in its heyday! Oh and Goofy going down the slide! They should still have characters at BB and TL. That would be great!

They used to let people swim at Poly and GF but after the water was found not exactly what you'd want to be swimming in, now all of the resorts on Bay Lake have just a "wading area" at the beaches which keeps people's heads out of the water. I do miss Discovery Island. :guilty:

I know I have some pictures in my archives somewhere. I'll try and post them here or put them in the Downloads section on my site. I also believe I have some old video footage as well... i"ll check for it ASAP
