Oh my!

I live on the Canadian Prairie... well known for bitter and snowy winters, so I know exactly the weather you are describing and how unbearable it can be. (We've been experiencing the minus 40 and below windchills as well, and currently are under yet another heavy snowfall warning.) It's the kind of cold where you go outside and your ski jacket literally "freezes" and you hear it *crack, crunch, crackle* as it moves .... the kind of cold where your eyelashes freeze together so you try to fight the involuntary blinking as to prevent this phenomenon ... and the kind where as you said, you can feel body parts you normally can't, like your ears... little hairs all over... and interestingly enough, your lungs as they quickly fill up with very cold air!

Anyway... my point being... I feel I am in good authority to say.... YIKES Robin!!!... that sounds painfully cold!!!! Eek! I sure hope you got REALLLLLLY good tips for delivering pizza like that... you certainly deserved them anyway!! Brrrr!!!!!! Take care! Go find yourself a really warm blanket and some hot cocoa or something.

Most people are being very generous to all of us.

If it stays this cold, I'll be able to get out AP's much sooner than I planned!

I would actually rather work in the cold than the heat. I'd never survive Florida in the summer.

Well I'm glad to hear they're giving you large tips, Robin... though I'm sure they're not as large as you deserve for what you describe having to go through to get the pizza there!

And I agree with you about the cold versus the heat... much easier in general to take the cold weather!

I wondered where all this humor came from until I noticed you are from Maine. I grew up around York, my sister and mother are in Brunswick and I have friends in Waterville. My second favorite vacation spot is Baa Haa Baa. I know a bit about Maine humor, but you are the master!

I just have to ask.....how many people said to you, "So, cold enough for ya?" One of my co-workers asked that of the UPS man when he was making a delivery last week. His forced laugh (kinda like this: "ha.") told me he must've been asked that a million times that day.

we can freeze together.......the busses are running and the rug rats have gone to school.......on my kitchen side of the house.....no wind involved.....18 below zero........I cannot even believe this......HAVE I TOLD YOU I HATE MAINE IN THE WINTER..........staying inside and I am going to be warm.......will make a crust and do my own pizza in the oven and that way it will warm up the kitchen too..........although it is nice and warm right now......

Warning only to be used in e-X-treme cold!

If you become stranded and start screaming from the cold like some deranged Stephen King character, first be sure there are no civilians in cars next to your truck. The sight you screaming can cause Post Traumatic Pizza Deliver Professional Screaming Like a Stephen King Character Syndrome (PTPDPSLASKCS)

Few untrained civilians are capable of surviving PTPDPSLASKCS and Pizza Delivery Liability Insurance rates are going through the roof. Considering how cold it is out there you don’t want any more hole in the roof than absolutely necessary.

Next you have the necessary safety equipment on board you Pizza Delivery Vehicle.

There is no substance on earth hotter and can hold heat longer than Pizza Imitation Cheese Product (PICP.) It is a special blend of dairy by products and the stuff they make the heat shield of the space shuttle out of.

This is how and why you always burn you mouth on the stuff no matter how long it had been out of the oven.

Remove a plain Pizza from the pizza security warmer. THIS IS IMPORTANT KEEP YOU GLOVES AN MITTENS ON AT ALL TIMES. PICP is extremely hot. This stuff makes LAVA look like Raspberry Ice Tea.

Place a small amount of PICP on the pile of empty paper soda cups on the passenger floor. They will instantly go up in flames however the fire should provide sufficient heat to keep you warm until the State Police arrive.

Don’t Worry they will be there shortly. The column of flame that goes up from the PICP blazing with the paper cups will be a beacon that will be seen for miles. Think biblical pillar of fire, the CIA will most likely mistake it for one of Iraq’s WMD going off.

You 5x5 layers of insulation will go from insulation form the cold to protection from the near thermonuclear reaction.

Robin, thanks for sharing your cold-weather story. I know it isn't too funny when you're actually close to death, but it really made my night here. BTW, I've lived in a warm-weather locale for nearly 13 years now. I think I would last 2 minutes in your neck of the woods. And that's a generous estimate. I hope you keep getting generous tips. We need your posse back in WDW and enjoying themselves again! I bet they can't wait for December to roll around again.

I know what your talking about Robin. We had pizza delivered last night and I gave the poor guy a $6 tip on a $15 order.

It's alright though, we have 6 more days until we're in sunny WDW, checking in to Pop on the 21st. Just checked the forecast and their predicting temps in the low to mid 70s. Now that's going to be tough to take after the weather we've been having. I don't know if my body can adjust that fast.

PS, Who do you deliver for, if you don't mind me asking?
